You have to feel bad for small photo processing stores in this day and age. I can’t see how it is possible to stay afloat with all of the big competition coupled with the fact that most people are happy just to see their photos on their computer screens now and won’t even bother getting hard copies. That’s why I admire a shop like Cotteridge Photo Company that has adapted to survive and still manages to be around after all of this time. They can print from film or direct from your memory card/digital camera. They offer a good range of prints and are fairly cheap too. You probably won’t travel to come here and get any printing done but if you are local to Cotteridge I would recommend you give them a try before going for a bigger high street chain or an online option.

Competing with the larger brands of photo stores, like Boots and Prontaprint and the like, and also with online services offered via photo sites such as Flickr, AND also having to cope with the ease and relatively cheap nature of home printing, must make things tough for the High Street photoshop. A few short years ago this sort of place would have been the only option in town for your photo needs. Cotteridge Photo company is managing to compete by offering good customer service and a range of additional services. If you need some family portraits printed and framed it’s worth checking out and they are fairly competitive on price.
