My first indoor climbing experience had here and i had immense fun. There are many walls for climbers of all abilities. Vertical walls, boulders and incline walls. A great way to increase your upper body strength as well as fitness and overcome your fear of heights. Staff are available to demonstrate and give a hands on tutorial on how to tie your knots and how to use the rope to enable the safety of your friends. I paid around £11 for climbing, however you have to become an annual member which is very cheap — around £6 for the year. Open 10 am to 10pm weekdays and till 7pm on weekends. Learn the ropes and have hours of adrenaline fuelled fun! Check this place out.

I am pretty good at climbing trees, so I decided to come here for a taster session for twenty pounds. A taster session is the package that they recommended to me. They have walls from 18 feet to 44 feet high with different angles and surfaces so you can choose how far to push yourself, whether it be on a smooth slab or a fearless overhang. I was taught by a fully qualified instructor and all the safety helmet and harness were included in the price. The only problem I had was that my harness was attached a little too tightly in between my legs, this made it quite a painful experience. No matter how I Adjusted my gear the problem still pervaded. I would recommend the tester course here. Climbing is a fun and physical activity, I felt the calories burn the further up the wall I climbed. I’d much rather do this than go to a gym.

It’s easy to ride a bus from Birmingham City Centre out to the South of Birmingham, passing from Balsall Heath into Moseley and forget that there is a huge indoor climbing complex just inside the B13 postcode. Creation has been in action since the days of Epic Skatepark and utilises the high ceilings of this former Bus depot. Walls on offer range from a free climbing area where you can climb without ropes or harnesses to the big stuff which entails ropes and a harness. I had a blast at Creation and found the staff to very helpful and keen to see new climbers join the more experienced regulars on the walls. There is a range of snacks, food and drinks available and you can even take a peek at the skatepark area if you fancy a fresh challenge!

I like climbing up rock, especially steep rock. And in Creation’s case there are lots of artificial and steep rock-like walls to be climbed up. This is the best climbing wall that I know of in the Birmingham region. So if you’re into climbing or curious about the pastime then pay Creation a visit to put your skills into practice, or be tutored by a highly qualified team of rock-monkeys. It is an enormous centre and seems to be ever-expanding when I go there for session of falling off the bouldering walls or falling off the moderately graded climbs. There’s a wide variety of grades of from an easy, upright saunter grade to the downright ‘you need the forearms of an oiled 80s action hero to hold on let alone climb up’ grade. You might of gathered that there’s a bouldering wall to climb around on, or fall off(on?) in my experience. There’s also a shop full of climbing related goodies and lots of people who are better climbers and know a lot more about climbing than I do. So if you have an interest in climbing — this is the place to be interested in.
