If they’ve not got it, then it’s not worth drinking. They have everything from your standard beer, spirits and wine choices through to options such as port, sherry, champagne, and if you want it they even have low calorie alcohol options. I was looking for a quality wine to complement the fish I was cooking that evening and I was pleasantly surprised with the help on offer from the shop assistant. I left with a couple of bottles of white and it tasted great.

I have popped in here a few times to pick up a few bottles of wine and beer when I have been expecting people round for dinner. It is a little out of the way for me and so I tend to only visit here if I am that end of Selly Oak. It is quite small inside, however, they do stock a variety of wines, beers and spirits. The staff have always been friendly and very helpful if I ask for any advice, which is refreshing, as it is always useful to talk to a shop assistant who knows about the stock they are selling. The prices are moderate and I have found that they often have deals on a lot of the stock, which is always a bonus. Overall, it is a good off license, if not a little too small.

Dave’s Wines is a little on the small side, but manages to offer a decent selection of beer, cider, spirits and(you guessed it) wines in its slightly cramped premises. I do appreciate some good offers though, and £6 for three big bottles of Kopperberg during the brief sunny spell was too good to pass up. For more classy evenings, there is always enough choice in the wine selection to keep you going for a long time. The staff are quiet but friendly and are always quick to offer assistance. Perhaps not as chatty or knowledgable as Wine Stop for example, but if you’re in a pinch and on Oak Tree Lane, Dave Wines is always a safe bet.
