I ordered some bedroom furniture and paid a deposit… as Mr Singh seemed like a respectable trustworthy person. He promised I will recieve my furniture in 2 days… but those two days took weeks. He then said if I pay the full amount outstanding then he can get my furniture delivered that evening, so I did. But still no furniture for another week. Then finally received some of it after several calls and visit, but they were the wrong ones and were damage, so then I had to chase him up to change d furniture. He promised that he will get them changed and this took weeks and weeks of his false promises, giving me his word everyday that it will be coming, but still nothing. At the end of all this waiting told him to get lost as there was going to be no furniture. M r Singh seems very charming in his way… But be aware he is a fraud! He is full of excuses and always uses transport company is letting him down… What a load of crap!

We dropped into Fab Furnishings in passing one Sunday afternoon and were pleased to find almost exactly what we wanted. The very credible Mr Singh gave us what he described as a very good price and promised to deliver to us for free. He explained that he did so frequently and used his own delivery drivers which meant that he could deliver within 48 hours of us telling him when we needed the furniture. We were glad to pay £700 and looked forward to getting our new bedroom furniture. Unfortunately, it turned out that Mr Singh needed far more than 48 hours to arrange a delivery and, even after he promised to arrange something, it never actually happened. The first time I took a day off work to accept delivery, I received a phone call at about 10 o’clock in the morning to explain that the driver was ill and delivery had to be delayed. I was promised that they would use their own drivers the next time(I thought they had promised to do that the first time). The second time he cancelled, there was some wishy washy explanation about something(he didn’t seem to know quite what) being wrong with his driver. The final straw for me was when(having taken yet another day off work) the delivery failed to turn up without any word of explanation or apology(this time, Mr Singh had given his«110% guarantee», I had«his word», he had booked two drivers(he had realised it was heavy) and, when I phoned him at 10 am in the morning, he had promised that it would be with me later that day). Ultimately, I had to contact my bank and use their dispute resolution process to recover my payment from Mr Singh /Fab Furnishings. He had promised to give me my money back himself but I have no evidence that he ever tried to do that either. The good news was that, having got my money back, I ordered identical furniture on the internet which was cheaper than Mr Singh’s «very good price»(«you’ve got over £1,400 worth of furniture there» were his exact words). Unfortunately, that was only after spending Christmas sleeping on the floor due to his inability to deliver anything that he promised so convincingly. Do go in and have a look if you like — they are very friendly and convincing and, despite what it looks like from the outside, some of their stuff is nice. However, my advice would be that you chose what you want and buy it online — its cheaper, less stressful, and you may actually get your furniture(rather than ending up in dispute).

5 words that strike dread into the heart of any sane person are: «Shall we go to IKEA?». I’m no different. I can’t imagine anything worse than schlepping a few junctions up the M6 to Wednesbury and then spending an hour lost in the maze of Swedish furniture and rowing couples. People often say, «Ah, but they do good meatballs.» Well, I make better ones. As such, finding places closer to home that might somehow prevent a trip to the dreaded place is a very good thing. Fab Furnishings is one such place. Reasonably priced furniture that is of a similar standard to that offered by the kings of flatpack, and it’s not far from the pub. Sold.

To my complete and utter devastation, upon entering Fab Furnishings I found that the ‘fab’ referred neither to The Beatles or Thunderbirds. After this initial disappointment, having expected to be served by either Ringo Starr or a puppet, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Fab Furnishing makes up for these shortcomings. They sell everything to do with furnishings; wardrobes, beds, chests of draws, and rugs. Their prices are extremely reasonable — a large maple chest of drawers that I bought from there a couple of years ago cost just £100, which I felt was very competitive. Their beds are also very well prices — a double bed and mattress is just £200. The staff are always very friendly, and they’ve asked if I needed any help every time I’ve been in.
