I was so excited to see another new venue opening up in the JQ, literally 5 minutes walk away from my house. And, a Cocktail bar! Genius! This was then compounded when I saw a voucher on one of the many websites for 4 cocktails for £10! What a great excuse, I thought, to try this plush looking new venue. Ohhh how disappointing… As per the conditions of the voucher, I booked a good month ahead to get a table for me and a friend to go on a Friday night at 6:30. On the night of the adventure, I met my friend and we wandered down to the venue in good time to get there bang on. Firstly, we WERE greeted as we came in(result). On this greeting, we were told that they had a big booking that night for dinner and we would only be able to sit at a table for an hour or we could stand at the bar. Hmmm… Now, when I book a TABLE a solid ONEMONTH before going for cocktails, I don’t expect to be told I will be kicked off that table within an hour. When we were presented with the cocktail menu, the choice was fairly dazzling. Around 15 — 20 cocktails(some of which I had never tried before) were on there. When the waiter came to take our order, he advised I could only choose out of 5 of this selection(again, I’m pretty sure it didn’t state this on the voucher, but could be my mistake). I wouldn’t have minded, but the selection not included in the offer didn’t seem to be any more pricey to make than the ones that were in? Anyway, I digress. I ordered my first sour cocktail and my friend had a mojito. She also ordered some food(having come straight from work). As soon as we had been delivered our first cocktail, the staff were acting like the clock was on. We were asked whether we wanted to order another drink halfway through our previous drink and they tried to take the plate away with food still on it. By the time it came for the final cocktail in the deal, I was well and truly peeved with being hurried. The cocktails were OK, but not good enough to save the night from the abysmal customer service we received. I appreciate I was going on a voucher, but I still don’t feel that should affect the customer service received. Needless to say, I’m in no hurry to head back.

With hundreds of small restaurants and bars close by competition is vicious and unfortunately his place does less than stand out from the crowd. Having come in for a late lunch, It seemed expensive for what you get which was not very well cooked nor particularly appetising and actually disappointing. on the other hand the establishment is nicely and decorated and staff are welcoming. So maybe a place to go if you’re just looking for drinks.
