When you are surrounded by a wealth of jewellery shops full of precious gems, gold and silver this little shop is a rarity amongst all the long time cornerstones of the Jewellery Quarter. They’ve only been open a couple of years but if you are looking for a wider option of pearls and costume jewellery too then this worth a look for something different. from ornate necklaces with multi strand pearl rows with big flower focal point to smaller, cute charms for a bracelet they have a range of price points. It’s such a small, beautifully arranged shop, it’s a pleasure to pop in and the ladies behind the counter are super friendly so go in and have a nose and maybe you’ll find something just perfect for that outfit or as a present for a friend.

Tiny little jewellers on Hockley Street — just down off the main ‘drag’(if the JQ was to even have such a thing?) and a few doors down from the Drop Forge. Highly Strung specialise(as you might have guessed by the name!) in beaded jewellery — and the style of their work is less granny-pearls, and more assymetrical contemporary pearls and beads. I walk past this shop every day, and when they’re open the ladies inside smile and wave out. I\ve been ogling a particular assymetrical pearl necklace with a large floral diamanté piece on one side. but alas I can’t justify such frivolous purchases at the moment. Alongside jewellery, they also offer a restringing service — for when your existing necklaces have snapped and the beads have flown all over the place!
