Key points: Terribly unskilled barbers. Rushed service. Charge for hidden extras. No complimentary drink. When brought to attention of management, got called a liar by both barber AND management from head office. What can you expect from a company run by apes?

The Best male barbers in the Midlands I have been a customer since 2008. I simply cannot go anywhere else. Great friendly staff and service. Free drinks, newspapers, magazines, PS lounge and more. Great range of products and always happy to try and recommend new products without the need to buy. You really must give this place a try even if for a one off special treat!

I tend to go to Jacks when I want a nice time and a good haircut. I popped in this week for a wash and cut as well as a cut throat shave. The staff treat you well, are friendly and do good work. While you get your hair washed, you’ll get a massage from their special chairs, and if you really want to treat yourself, get a cut throat shave. It takes about 45 minutes but its a really good experience. Highly recommended.

A classy barbers in the heart of Brum’s city centre. I often go in here with my boyfriend when he gets his hair cut. The shop itself is really well-presented, classic décor and furniture. The staff are very friendly and the wait is normally no longer than about ten minutes. While you wait they offer you a beer and there is a large television and various newspapers to keep you amused. The barbers themselves are very talented and professional, the cut is always very good and they offer a range of quality hair products. The only drawback is sometimes they have ear-bleeding house music blaring out which sometimes drives me to wait outside, it’s not what I want to hear on a Saturday lunchtime really, 4am in a club when I’m on another planet maybe, but not in this classy barbers on a nice afternoon.

A lot of my male friends who live in the city who go here when they are in need of a trim. All of them have short hair styles and once it’s right, they just need a good trim to maintain the shape, which I am told can be quite difficult! As well as a quick trim, the barbers offer face grooming(I believe it’s called a close shave) and advice of all man stuff from hair colour to tips for skin care. The barbers can do a range of styles so don’t think they just shave a number 2 all over as they offer a lot more than that. If you’re wandering by, pop in to see if they can fit you in as they’re normally really helpful in fitting you in.

Jacks of London is one of the best barbers a man can find in our city. I had my last haircut here, and the service is always topnotch. They really make you feel valued and spend time with you in getting to know what style, look and appearance your after. I didn’t book an appointment and just walked in, and only had to wait about 10 minutes, which i didn’t mind as they have a large TV for you to watch whilst waiting. You can also grab a paper and catch up with the news. Although there are a large number of hair stylists in Birmingham, and several cheaper competitors, with this place and the service that you receive, you feel you get what you pay for. It’s fitted out brilliantly in here, it’s clean and modern, feels macho and manly, and your looked after very well. The kind of Barbers I wish was nearby to where I live.

I’ve frequented Jacks of London since I began University three years ago. The prices are generally more than I’d ideally like to pay as a student, but Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are student days, when you can normally get a cut for around £17. The atmosphere created in the establishment is one of heritage and prestige, so its worth experiencing at least once, and they’ve got a Playstation for those who have to wait(although I’ve never seen it busy enough to generate a queue, and often have been the only one in there). The friendliness of the stylists varies, as you would expect, although being a men’s salon you get the impression that they’re hired for their skills rather than their small talk, and the results certainly show — my hair normally looks awful for a good week after a cut, no matter where I go and how I have it cut, but so far Jacks have managed to keep me looking presentable every time I walk out of there. Located in the city centre, so not the most convenient for students like myself, but for professionals working in the city, I would say this would be a very good choice, both in terms of cut quality and the ability to get in and out relatively quickly.

Always been skeptical when it comes to letting other people cut my hair due to past experiences. But I decided to let loose and go to Jacks of London — Birmingham. Amazing experience, I will defiantly be returning, the cuts are great and at a very low price. I was so impressed I decided to tip the guy who cut my hair. Well done Jacks of London.

Until recently the only place I got my hair cut in Birmingham was ‘Supercuts’. This was only because it was fairly cheap but to be honest, I was rarely satisfied with the butchering my hair would recieve there. ‘Jacks of London’ is similar in price and if you are a student you can get a discount(on certain days) via the ‘student beans’ website. So far my experience of this place has been positive. With a plush interior, relaxed atmosphere and free beers even if you don’t like the job they do on your hair you’re likely to be in a good enough mood not to mind.
