My worse nightmare. A while back I went to this shop to find a dress for my sisters wedding. They had some modern eye catching dresses. I saw one I liked but it had a low neck and back which wasnt suitable for a muslim wedding. The dress itself was also very long. I decided to place an order for a new made to order dress with all the adjusments etc in the same colour as the display one. So they took my measurments and a deposit to process the order which cost more as it was made to order. I was told it would take 8 weeks to complete. After calling them several times after 8 weeks and being told the dress hadnt arrived when it finally did I went to pick it up only to see my worse nightmare. There was never any order for a new dress they pulled out the same dress as they had on display which they said had been ordered and just arrived. They must have thought I was stupid. The dress was ripped frm the sides and torn at the bottom as it had been tried on so many times. There were no adjustments as requested and coincidentally the display one had been sold. I was in complete shock and the lady owner was extremely rude in addressing the issue. In the end she admitted it wasnt a made to order dress and agreed to make adjustments in store to the same dress. I felt I had no choice but to take the same dress as there was only a week to the wedding which I regret as what they did was totally unacceptable and uncalled for as I paid them good money. Please think twice before you order with them. They sure live up to their name NightMairs. Dont be deceived. Happy shopping guys x

It’s hard to miss Mairs boutique if you pass through the Soho Road because it’s such an impressively large store with eye-catching window displays. I love the fact that they have such realistic mannequins that stand in model-like styles! All of the clothes in the boutique are readymade. They vary from traditional Asian fashion to more Western-inspired outfits such as gowns and long skirts. But overall the style is very chic and glamourous. I’m not a fan of exaggerated bling and embroidery but they cater for both those who like flashy styles and those who prefer something that is minimalist and elegant. The clothing is of very good quality in rich, vibrant colours and generous sizes. They have a small selection of jewellery and handbags, which is limited but impressive all the same. Given their style and quality of clothing, the outfits are understandably pricey. This is definitely the pinnacle of Asian fashion in Birmingham.

This is one shop on Soho Road I like going to and just walking into the shop, I got a sense of there being a friendly atmosphere about the place. Despite the fact I have not brought anything from here, I have tried one or two sherwanis from Mairs. Just wearing them felt good and the only thing that prevented me from buying them was price. I did ask if they could reduce the price by a small amount but they couldn’t. What I will say is that the staff here are very friendly and will help you if you need it. They will happily answer your questions and offer you advice. I did find some sherwanis had way too much embroidery but I guess there are Asians out there that like Indian suits with plenty of sequins/embroidery. If Mairs did lower their prices then maybe I would buy a sherwani from here. As well as Menswear, there are Asian Ladieswear on sale here as well.

Mairs are one of the exceptional stores on Soho Road for that Asian wedding and bridal attire. They always display the latest designs and the fashion you can’t produce in the UK, they bring all the items over from all over Asia, which includes, India, Singapore and far out east. Popular, and occasionally you will find a great sale on, they also have some nice outfits for men. Certainly take friends and family with you on your visit here. Whatever colours you prefer they sell. I like how they speak lots of languages, and it’s more convenient for my mothers generation who knows that she trusts what they’re saying about their garments when she can speak to them in her own language. I’d recommend visiting the store, car parking is available nearby, and the shop is served with bus routes regularly from the city and West Bromwich. Quite busy on the weekends though.
