This branch has recently opened again after moving into the unit next door. It’s now a much bigger, and brighter layout. As always with River Island, I find myself wondering whether I am too old, or not fashionable to shop here. It seems worth taking a chance to have a browse though. I haven’t been asked to leave yet! The shoes at the back of the store are now displayed in a way that is amenable to browsing, as it’s no longer crammed into a corner. Lots of shoes in fashionable styles, though I question the quality of some of them to be honest. The clothing is displayed in sections based on style, and with the better layout, it is easier to see where to head to for something specific. The sizing does cater more for the lower end of the spectrum, with very little in larger sizes available. Menswear is still upstairs. There is also the inclusion of a children’s section near to shoes at the back of the store. There are clothes ranging from babies to teens. I personally think there are some over priced pieces in this area. River Island have done well with their accessories area. It is well stocked, with a range of different looks. Although I found a lot of pieces of stock were damaged sadly.

I have to say, River Island is my favourite women’s clothing shop of all time. It stocks all the latest designer inspired fashions at good prices, and although its not as cheap as some, i find the quality of the clothing is pretty unbeatable. Not only this, but they do ‘proper’ sizes, as i find alot of stores model their sizes on anorexics and therefore, a size 12, is really a size 8 whereas River Island, a 12 is a 12 is a 12! They have a great range of accessories too — and the blokes clothing range is pretty nice also — with the latest up to date fashions and accessories.

River Island is located right next door to Topshop on the middle floor of The Bullring. They sell womenswear which is up to date and inspired by a lot of stuff from the catwalk. It is more glitz and glamour than Retro, like its next door neighbour Topshop. It is at the top end of highstreet prices(£50 for a pair of jeans) and stocks a lot more ‘going out’ gear. They sell excellent shoes and bags, their real leather pieces are especially worth having a look at.
