Popped in here for a celebration Monday lunch after handing over my ex-laptop for some tasty cash in the supermarket carpark over the road. It’s an easy and fast trip out from Brum on the x51(other buses are available!) My expectations were not high, but I was starved and fancied a lounge before heading back home. So I’d class this as a ‘traditional’ local pub. It’s rough around the edges but perfectly OK for a lunchtime chomp. It’s a little on the grubby side if you look closely. The main lounge has a bank of TV’s and this is clearly a ‘sports’ oriented place, but it was just Sky Sports on mute when I was in(nowt sporty on, so that was fine). But when I was there it was pretty much occupied by pensioners enjoying a cheap, sociable lunch. It’s hard to complain about value. I had chicken and mushroom pie, with chips, peas and gravy, a pint of Banks’s bitter and three big blobs of vanilla ice-cream for a touch over £10! Service was friendly enough and my main was brought quickly. I did have to remind them about the desert, but all was cool. The gravy was straight out of Bisto-land and the peas a bit firm. The pint was delightful, super clear with a great head. Ice-cream was adequate and rounded off a decent cheap meal. So a thumbs up for all round value.

Whilst passing through Great Barr on the way to drop a friend off, she suggested that we stop off at the Scott Arms. We were both pretty hungry so we decided to go in and sample the carvery. As soon as we walked in we could smell the food and we knew we’d made the right choice. Décor wise, it was just your typical pub with nothing overly interested to report back on. The toilets could do with a lick of paint and also stocking up on toilet roll. The staff seemed friendly enough and the food was tasty. Over all it was a good pub, but not somewhere I would spend my Saturday nights.

this isn’t my local pub but I could consider«an around the corner one» because it’s located in one of the busiest roads, connecting Birmingham to Walsall and other areas. For being a pub that represents well a bit of the History of Great Barr itself, Scott Arms is a place to be visited for anyone who is passing by the area. According to my husband it has changed a lot over the years but it’s still the old and good Scott Arms to the locals and visitants. I have been to this pub a couple of times and I would classify the experience as an okay and comfy one. I can’t say it’s the ultimate pub experience in life but also it’s far from being a rubbish bar. There is always comfy pub food in the menu and plenty of 2 meal deals to go for. The steak is really nice and the price is worth. There is also free Wi-Fi available and beers and drinks are really cheap indeed. In general, Scott Arms is a pleasant pub where you can find regular customers every single day. People that are certainly used to drink, eat or just hang around in this pub for years. It’s a «in the middle of our way pub» but also a place that you won’t regret to visit if stopping by for a while.

Scott Arms is the famous pub located in the Great Barr area. It’s pretty much well known beyond Great Barr because people seem to only remember that place, even when someone is providing directions to a place within that area; they always mention Scott Arms as the prominent place. I’m not from Great Barr but have been around that area a few times and I last went into Scott Arms a few weeks back, when me and my boyfriend just wanted a quick, cheap Sunday carvery meal. We were not disappointed! Our carvery was really nice. The atmosphere in there is quite electric; as there’s always people in there– so it can be pretty busy on a daily basis. They offer a large selection of food, from curry’s to burgers, grills and baguettes. No one will be left dissatisfied because there is food for anyone and everyone. Also, there’s a great range of beers, wines and spirits at the bar. When I went there on a Sunday it was really busy, so just be warned that on certain days; especially Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday it will be busier(that’s what I was told by a friend who’s been there more than me).

Been here a couple of times and I have to say I will be coming here more often. It is a great place to hang out with your mates although I did find the Bar too small. Having said that, the Lounge is massive and spacious. Although I have not tasted the food here, I intend to do so sooner rather than later and see what the menu is like. The Scott Arms pub is for sure a place where you can take your family out. There is a nice family atmosphere about the place and there is something for everyone here. If you do want to book an event at the pub, fill out the form on the above website given and the pub will take it from there. Parking should not be an issue and there is access for disabled people. Not forgetting there are plasma screens which show major sporting events. Staff are friendly and you can have plenty of banter with them. I certainly did.
