St Patricks is BIG in Brum. In fact, it’s one of the biggest parades in the world(third largest in the world, behind only New York(the biggest) and then Dublin). The route is huge, stretching from outside the City and snaking in to Digbeth before everyone goes to party afterwards… Every pub in Birmingham seems to have some sort of St Paddy’s celebration. The irish pubs in Digbeth head this up and end up rammed to the rafters with people drinking, dancing and smiling throughout the day. That being said, it can get messy. On a hot day, expect many Guinness casualties trawling the streets — but the atmosphere remains a party from noon until night. The city goes totally green for the period, but it’s a fun place to be for the day! If you want a quieter celebration, stay out of the Eastside of the City. Again, pubs do *something* throughout the city, so the Irish pubs outside of this area also get in on the action and live music(and drinks offers) can be found throughout Brum. Birmingham is the place to be(outside of Ireland) for St Patricks… To be sure, to be sure.
