Great little theatre located close to broad street may not be as big as the hippodrome and the Alex but better for it with a real intimate experience and the shows are great

I never even knew this place existed until recently when my friend put on a play here. It is a nice space but I definitely think it needs a refurb as it has a slightly tatty feel. The tickets are reasonable and so are the drinks. If it spruced itself up a bit then I think this place would really thrive.

This is a quaint theatre just by Brindley Place! Theres a large foyer with the usual box office and I was surprised that there are two performance areas, a Studio and the Main Hall. The play I saw was in the Studio which can be put into any layout required! How cool is that?! The seats were your usual office type chairs which is understandable as they need to move them about, although when people moved about they could become quite noisy. Theres a really awesome bar upstairs, where you can order interval drinks. Although I didn’t as there wasn’t too much of an audience, served immediately too! All reasonably priced. With a separate queue for tea, coffee and ice creams. The bar is decorated with lots of photographs and memorabilia of different performances and is a delight to view. Theres a selection of seating, high tables, low tables and sofas. Is there anything better than a cheeky drink before a performance and during the interval, well here there is… take a browse around as you sip your favourite drink! Take a peek at whats coming up here!

My friend invited me to go to the cinema and I suggested we go and see a play at the Crescent, the same price you would pay to go to cinema you can go into the theatre instead. Me and my friend went to see Cloud Nine performed by the Birmingham School of Acting. I was able to book the day before online and collect our tickets at the box office. There wasn’t a bad seat to be had and at the back seats at the studio theatre there was loads of leg room. Having forgotten to get cash out before arriving I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to get a interval drink but there I was able to pay by card with no minimum card spend. I got two cappuccinos, minstels and jelly babies. Had a really good night and there are plenty of plays I would really like to see they are putting on this year.

The Crescent Theatre is a wonderful little theatre just off Broad Street. It has a lovely main house theatre which seats just over 300. There is also a smaller studio theatre which usually seats 100. The place is mainly run by volunteer members and there’s a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The bar is well-stocked and the service is friendly and fast. Visiting/touring theatre, music and dance companies(both amateur and professional) hire the spaces throughout the year, so in addition to Crescent productions, there is quite a variety of productions not to be missed. The Crescent recently started a cinema programme showing classic and cult films. The bar is also open for all film screenings and you can bring your drinks into the theatre — what could be better than a glass of wine with ‘Casablanca’ or ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s?’ — a unique cinema experience! Also, throughout the year there are live music and comedy nights in the bar. Good fun! Overall, The Crescent is a friendly and vibrant place. The Crescent staff and members make you feel at home and go above and beyond to make your Crescent experience a wonderful one.

So the Crescent Theatre — I had never been before until I was invited to a Unilocal Breakfast at Tiffany’s inspired event which included watching the film :) The theatre is charming with friendly and welcoming staff, and a number of productions are shown here along with some classic films. The main theatre feels cosy, and if you are going to watch a film the curtain is drawn back and the film starts straight away — no ads shown here which is a welcome change. There is a bar area situated outside the main theatre, which is superb for a pre and post film drink. I can’t really comment on the rest of the theatre, as I made a beeline for upstairs! However I look forward to returning to this charming theatre in the near future. One word of advice if you haven’t been — GO!

Breakfast at Tiffanys Last Night I attended The Breakfast at Tiffany‘s event at the Crescent Theatre. Sometimes when one is caught up on the treadmill of life; it can be easy to forget how special We all are. This event reminded Me that I was special! It was the way that I was made to feel as well as the event itself. When I walked up the red carpet I knew that I was in for a good night. The Customer Service at the Crescent was great. I had not visited the Crescent for years and the ambiance was right for the event. I did not have my hair done but admired all the wonderful hairstyles that were being done by Sarah from SGR Vintage Hair and Beautiful Kiss Me Cupcakes provided beautifully decorated cupcakes of which I was privileged to partake. They were too beautiful to eat! I also tasted lovely truffles and delicacies from Miss Apples Sweets There were also a variety of nibbles provided which I didn‘t expect as well as lovely gifts courtesy of Unilocal. The photographers were great too And all this before the film which was great. I loved the big screen presentation. To anyone else that I haven‘t mentioned. A big THANKYOU. This was as Good as it gets!

I loved the @crescenttheatre from the moment I walked in. What a fantastic independent theater which is run partly with donations and volunteers. I love the lounge area where we come and have civilised coffee which is affordable and not at theatre prices. They have a fantastic array of productions and and now they have a cinema too. This shows classics like Back to the Future and WALL.E. To top it all, they now have a loyalty card! Just on one edge of Brindleyplace, please do go check it out!

Location, location, location. Crescent theatre has an excellent location, just off Broad St and next to Brindley Place. The theatre itself is small and intimate, which gives you a feeling of being right in the thick of it. For someone like me who’s a little hard of hearing and wears glasses, it’s great. Prices are extremely reasonable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My most recent visit was only my second, but I would recommend this theatre regardless.

I came here a few months ago with some course mates from university to watch a production. It was a bit strange when I went in as I had no idea where to go and there were no staff around. I proceeded to head up some stairs and managed to bump into a member of staff on my way. He was a bit flustered but showed me the way to the foyer where there was a small bar serving refreshments. I got myself a coffee before the production started and made my way to one of the tables in the foyer. The atmosphere was a bit strange as there were not many people around, or any staff for that matter. I felt as though it was closed and I was intruding. Needless to say, the production was very good and my friends and I enjoyed it. The auditorium is fairly roomy for such a small theatre and I think that it is in a good location, it is just a shame it is not more popular.

The Crescent is a small and basic theatre that provides a stage for local amateur groups and smaller theatre companies. It operates as a charity and has a host of volunteers who help keep the theatre running. The programme is always wildly varied — with classic musicals mixed in with new dramatic writing. There’s a bar area and the theatre seating is comfortable. The simplicity of the surroundings ensures that your eyes are firmly on the stage action. It might not be Birmingham’s ritziest venue, but The Crescent sure still knows how to put on a good show!

Located not too far from Brindley Place and Broad Street, this is a small and local not-for-profit theatre. The auditorium is small, so you feel very close up to the shows, and with only a small number of seats, your bound to get up close and not miss a thing. With regular diverse entertainment covering comedy, drama, local acts and music there is bound to be an upcoming show whatever your tastes may be. The theatre is playing host to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice in July 2012, as part of the 2012 summer tour. Facilities include FREE wi-fi, and a very nice coffee lounge with good seats. If you buy tickets online or by phone there is a 5% transaction fee, but this doesn’t apply if you buy show tickets in cash.(Sundays they are only open if they have a show on, otherwise they are open Tues-Sat 10am-8pm).
