Only been here once and to be quite honest with you, I don’t think I will be going back. Staff are friendly don’t get me wrong but The Green Room could do with a clean and it could be refurbished. I just found it to be run down. The food here is at reasonable prices but I have been to better tea and coffee shops. Sandwiches, baguettes, chocolate bars as well as paninis are some of the things you can buy. There is however another sandwich shop close by and I prefer to go there. You can sit outside since there is a seating area. I remember having a cup of tea and sitting outside The Green Room on a warm day. It did feel good but the tea itself was not great. I did like the graffiti and the artistic work on the outside of the café. I wish I could give more positives about this place but unfortunately there isn’t. I have visited better cafes and the quality of food and drink isn’t fantastic here. But I wouldn’t say it is the worst.

You would have thought that since this local café has been open for so many years that they would have at least kept it up to date with a lick of paint. We went there and had a large English breakfast. At the time we were slightly hung over and in need of some grease to this place was perfect. The staff weren’t particulary friendly and the food didn’t leave much to the imagination. There were lots of builders in there which doesn’t surprise me as The Green Room is a typical back street greasy spoon café. Perfect if your in need of a hangover cure but not so much if you fancy lunch out with your friends.

The Green Room is a small café of only 12 covers. They could easily fit 16 and I’m surprised that they haven’t utilised the space better, considering the number of construction workers currently in the area. The café is really run down and looks, well, dreadful really. It appears to be run by 3 siblings. The girl who served us was very polite but she did charge me 50p extra for my breakfast baguette without mentioning why. The counter of the café was pretty empty with just a couple of bottles of water, some salad, chocolate bars and a few sweaty, cling film wrapped cakes inside. After ordering there was nowhere for us to stand and wait and we felt like we were in the way of other customers. We waited 15 minutes for one baguette. This is fair enough I guess as there was only one girl cooking most of the time. The café is so shabby and it annoys me to see places like this which could easily be sorted out with a quick trip to Ikea. The menu was reasonably priced but I’ve only ever had sandwiches and baguettes from here on the way to work. They also offer pasta dishes, smoothies and paninis and have a seperate breakfast menu. Everything on the afternoon menu was under £4. I definitely would not recommend this place as somewhere to sit in and eat. My baguette was fine but I did make a point of not having sausage in it as they deep fry their sausages to the consistency of a rock. I would happily give The Green Room another star if they cleaned the place up and made it more comfortable and attractive to sit in. This is my local café and it’s been there for years. There’s no excuse for it looking as shabby as it does. Have a bit of pride in your work, it’ll only take a few hundred quid in Ikea to sort it out.

Going into this local café for breakfast I didn’t know what to expect. I have walked past it do many times. So when it was suggested we go there one morning I couldn’t think why I hadn’t been in there before. The outside has a very eighties giant graffiti cartoon depicting a host of unknown characters, which should lead you into thinking the interior would have the same level of décor. Soon as we got it we realised there was no décor. At all. The rooms not even green, part of the counter was wooden and had been painted green but that was it. Also the sun was shining down hard when I was in here, but the place was still on the darker side. The place was clean and the staff seemed pleasant but as time went on and we waited for our food I felt unnerved and one of the males(who I assume was staff) paced around and gave off a tense vibe. The menu is standard with pasta, panini’s and baguettes all under £4.00. We had the breakfast baguette, which they over charged us by 50p for. The food was good but took almost 20 minuets and as the place is so small(it has 3 tables) I felt like anywhere I stood would be intrusive to people sitting down. This place is fine for a flying visit but this café needs some in is desperate need of some TLC. With some attention it wouldn’t take much to turn it around and make it a hot spot. With its location so close to Snowhill it has missed its potential.
