This Morrisons store is relatively small and is located in Bolton city center. It looks quite an old fashioned store from the outside, and it is typical Morrisons décor, looking quite old-fashioned on the inside too, especially with the flooring and décor, which makes it pretty much a typical Morrisons. The range of foods here is quite poor, and mediocre. They had an average gluten free selection in the cupboard, no gluten free fridge and a poor selection in the freezer, which is quite poor for Morrisons, considering they are trying to promote and extend their«Free from range» The prices here seemed a little pricey today, on what I did see, compared to similar products at rival supermarkets. They is also a petrol station here, and it is opposite a Sainsbury’s, and in my opinion this store isn’t good enough with its’ size, prices and range to compete with other supermarkets, especially ones so close. The to-go food range was quite poor, they had no gluten free sandwiches, and although they had a few sausage rolls, they really are not worth buying, especially without a sandwich. Even my friend, who can have gluten struggled to pick a sandwich here1 The frozen range seemed quite small here too, and it was just mixed in into one isle. The store didn’t really stand out to me, and the range wasn’t up to scratch. For example, they was a lack of multi-pack drinks, and you could basically count the number of multi-pack cans etc and how many they had in seconds, which was ridiculous. They were so many big names absent such as San Pellegrinio. This store did have some decent products, but still compared to most other supermarkets I have visited, it is on the poorer side. It does have a large café, which is near enough a good ¼ or 1⁄3 of the full size of the rest of the store. 2 stars as it is mediocre, but still somewhere you could pick up a few items, but a weekly shop? Perhaps not. Especially if you are a coeliac!

I would really like to give this Morrisons a 3.5 rather than a 3 or a 4. Morrisons is close to the bus station and the Bolton Market. It is also just across the street from Sainsbury’s as well as some other stores. So it is fairly central and hard to miss. The traffic in the car park is a bit of a nightmare… taxis waiting, cars not being able to get by because of the awkward shape of some parts of the car park. That is one of the reasons, I can’t give the place five stars. However, there is a car park below the store that doesn’t seem quite so busy and is great when it is pouring down outside. It is a paid car park… we missed that the first time, but fortunately it was such a quick trip we didn’t have to worry about a ticket. Oops. There is a petrol station, which might also be causing some of the traffic problems. There is a covered area where you can wait for a taxi, but it doesn’t seem to be large enough. There is an ATM as well. Another complaint I have, the large spinning doors to the store. One of the reasons for parking below the store… not having to put up with the spinning doors! There always seems to be someone who doesn’t know how to use it and the whole thing just stops. Not to mention carts and this contraption are just not a good combination. They have a café and while it is cheap, I think I would prefer to pick up a snack at the deli or bakery at the back of the store. The store is always super busy and can make a quick shop a bit of a challenge. I do like their bakery and actually think they have some better looking(and tasting) dessert options than some of the other supermarkets in town. I also like their deli… really I like the part next door where they are baking pies, pasties, and sausage rolls. They always have fresh pasties and sausage rolls… sometimes they are still warm! Their pork and cranberry sausage rolls are my favourite! I think their produce area could use a bit of work as sometimes it looks a bit of a mess. I also tend to skip the frozen section. There are usually queues at the tills, but the staff are friendly. There are usually a number of self-checkout machines that are not working, so I usually skip the self-checkout here. Overall, there are some great parts of the store, but I wouldn’t consider this for my normal, weekly shops.

Morrisons pride themselves on being a bit different from other supermarkets in that they want to appear like the high street of some small northern market town. It’s a bit of a naff idea, as at the end of the day we all just go to supermarkets to get our weekly shop and then get the hell out. However, when I popped into this Morrisons, I actually quite enjoyed the difference and the various counters around the store. There’s a fishmongers, bakery, deli and even cake shop. It made a nice change to the normal supermarket boredom. The thing I like best about Morrisons is its café. It’s always dirt cheap and perfect for a cheap, quick fry-up if you’re hungover.

Despite the fat they don’t sell clothes and neither do they deliver Morrisons remains one of the best supermarkets. the quality and variety of goods socked is fantastic, the store is well maintained and well laid out. The portion variety of fresh goods is fantastic such as you can buy a wedge of watermelon rather then the whole thing which may go to waste. they provide a bag choice of fresh food as well as old staple favorites for the cupboard and freezer. The store is bright and airy with plenty of staff. The only negative i have to say about this store is the baby changing room. It’s décor leaves a lot to be desired and the stench is overwhelming. I wouldn’t want to change my baby’s nappy in there never mind breastfeed my baby. However, if you go to customer services and kick up enough fuss they will let you use the first aid room for breastfeeding.
