Winter Hill

Winter Hill is home to a huge TV mast which can be seen from all over Bolton and well beyond; I gather it’s actually responsible for the signal for a large part of the north-​west!
It is possible to climb the hill, although the TV mast is, as might be expected, fenced off. We parked off Belmont Road to launch our own final assault on the summit The climb is a steep one, but is not too taxing with appropriate footwear — and it’s certainly worth the effort for the views are spectacular. Given it’s the highest point for miles around, perhaps that’s not surprising.
The Qype map has mislocated Winter Hill (it’s not in the middle of Bolton!) but I’m afraid I don’t know how to change it
