The pubs were crowded with a football match on tv so i came in here. It is a comfortable restaurent with a varied indian and bangladeshi menu. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Great place to eat. Food is amazing, not expensive either. Staffs are very polite and attentive. Highly recommend.

With this place you’re assured of basic Indian food, very predictable taste and food which will not disappoint. Tadka Daal and Naan can be very comforting on a cold rainy night in the South. Short walk from the Marriott by the sea. Parking by the beach is probably your best bet, which a short walk away. This place seldom sees an empty table, and things get packed by 8:30pm. I’ve been told it’s a good idea to make dinner reservations here although I’ve always just walked in and never had issues finding a table. The entrees are on the sweeter side of the Indian taste range, rather than being on the spicy side. However just tell your server how you want your dish and it will come out just right. Watch your step as you get down the awkward steps at the entrance past the patio on your right, I’ve managed to stumble many times.

After traveling into Bournemouth late, I was pleased to find Indian Ocean open and serving at 10pm on a Wednesday night. I was more pleased when I saw their logo which reads: «Masters of Indian Cuisine». I treated myself to an ice cold Cobra, placed my order and anxiously awaited my Chicken Tikka Masala, naan and rice. A few sips of beer later and my daily worries began to melt away. The service was fast, friendly and efficient so I didn’t have to wait long for my main dish to arrive. The menu had a chili pepper symbol next to my dish indicating«spicy» and I yearned for a good, spicy portion of Tikka Masala… instead, what arrived was a meager portion of the sweetest, «no spice added» excuse for this classic chicken dish. The naan here is served quartered, also odd for an Indian restaurant making me wonder if they make their own naan in house or simply reheat pre-made breads. The UK has some great Indian restaurants, but unfortunately this establishment isn’t one of them. I hoped to float in an «Indian Ocean» of culinary bliss but instead was left disappointed.

Whilst on vacation, we stayed in Bournemouth a couple nights. We told ourselves we could not go to England and not have a proper curry. Just around the corner from our hotel, we found the Indian Ocean(as in restaurant) and hit a home run with this find. The food, spice levels, service were all wonderful. The spousal unit raved about the chicken. I should add — generous portions too. The Indian Ocean more than completed that check box for a right proper curry in England, indeed !!

We went here and we was told to wait in conserverty. As the table was just being cleared. We thought that the restaurant was very tight, and that so close together as if you can here the people talking next to us. They can do with making more room and not so close. They cut up the naan bread in triangles as if you were a kid. The food is not that good my chicken was just warm, not hot at all. We had to wait awhile and rice was hard and not hot. It was ready for a 2 year old to eat. I felt insulted because we never had the popadoms to eat, they asked us two/three times to make sure that we did not still want some. As this is where they make there money on the bill more. As they were 80p each plus the dips. We shall never go again unless they make more room. Also cut down on the price for popadoms and make naan bread bigger.

If you like quality curries, speedy service and politicians, this place will tick all the boxes. The food is an often-inventive twist on some old classics. The service is swift and smiley. And there’s a wall packed with the pictures of Labour and Lib Dem MPs. Well, the first two points are winners.

We sat in the front conservatory area which for a restraunt seemed quite unusual but it comes as a purpose during the summer time. The food was really good, especially the Lamb Byriani. The service was friendly & professional, even if there was a very slight language barrier from one waiter. Recommended.

The service seemed a little patchy, probably not helped by a visit from the Immigration service, but the restaurant is clean and brightly furnished in a modern style. The popadums and chutneys were dissapointing, but the mains were a different story. The Chicken Bhoona was very nice, the only snag was the chicken was just a little dry. The Lamb Darzarling was very good: well cooked tender lamb in a tasty keema-based sauce. The pilau rice was nice and garlic naan was OK: the bits of dried garlic on the surface gave it an odd crunch. Overall the best curry we’ve had for a while, recommended.

I ate here during the Liberal Democrat Party Conference 2008 and the place was heaving with people. The staff coped very well, the food was good and they happily accomodated a friend with nut allergies. There was a queue to get in(so booking may be worthwhile) but the staff let us sit in the conservatory with a bottle of wine whilst we waited for a table. Fairly typical UK Indian restaurant.
