Not too sure about the Print Room. There are some great reviews around, but it did not meet our expectations. The location is actually the original newspaper print room of the Bournemouth Echo; this means that is vast. Every time we have been there, it has been very quiet, so we have been sitting in a vast room with no atmosphere. Food and service very average. Worth one visit to see it, and to have a cup of coffee!

Had an amazing meal here, really nice spiced fish with mussels, and my girlfriend had a great pork en croute. Very understated and friendly service too. Also has a good bar attached, Bournemouth’s most non-tacky as far as we could see. Only negative was that we turned up on Bank Holiday Sunday and both bar and restaurant were inexplicably closed. Still no idea why, I guess it’s open on Sundays usually.

A superb, tastefully decorated and very clean restaurant in the centre of Bournemouth offering excellent service. The food is magnificent. I have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.

Spectacular conversion of the former printing hall of the Bournemouth Echo, to create an ambitious combination of bar, brasserie and patisserie. This is another venture by serial restaurateur Andy Price, who already has Aruba and West Beach. A recent ‘Business lunch’ was good value at £15.50 for three courses. Starters included an excellent pork terinne with shallot jam. For mains, we enjoyed fish & chips, lasagne, and bangers and mash. The lasagne was very generous, coming in big oval cast iron lidded dish. The bangers and mash could have done with a green vegetable. Puds of berry compote and ice cream; and American style pancakes with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream were both done well. The overall verdict, though, was competent but pedestrian brasserie fare, rather than anything special. Will have to try dinner, or go a la carte, next time. And may have to hurry, because they were practically empty, so this may not be venture that is sustainable. UPDATE(Nov 2010) This place folded in the summer, and has been bought out of administration(sans the debts) by the same owners. It reopened this month. A recent visit for lunch found it much improved. There is a large area of upholstered seating for teas, coffees, etc, which also improves the formerly clattery acoustics. There’s also a counter selling the marvellous homemade chocs from Chococo in Swanage. The food was also a big improvement our eggs Benedict and pumpkin & sage risotto were both spot on. Desserts were imaginitive like the deconstructed Mai Tai, and fig tart with licorice parfait. Pretty good for thirty quid, incl coffee. Let’s hope it doesn’t go downhill again, as Bournemouth needs a place of this ambition. The Maitre d’ doesn’t auger well, as he has no idea how to do greet and seat, and neglects new arrivals to such an extent that several gave up and left! Here’s hoping for the best UPDATE(July ’13) The restaurant now seems to have stabilised as one of the best dining options in Bournemouth. A couple of recent lunches have been spot on, and service is good now as well. Still imaginative cooking. Fig, blue cheese and parma ham salad excellent, and the fishcake, wilted spinach and poached egg consistently tasty. Lunches about £30−40 for two with drinks, incl. coffee ain’t bad for this quality. Do go, and support a venture that deserves continued success.

As mentioned elsewhere the room is impressive and well decorated with art-deco touches. Nice informal bar area with tea, coffee and cakes available, coffee and a cake for £2.50 is the current value offer. The bar food is the usual salad, burgers, sandwich and wrap selection typically under £10, but there are some interesting sharing platters for around £10. Recommended

This is somewhere to take someone you are trying to impress. This restaurant is sited in the former print room of the Bournemouth Echo and they have retained many of the art deco features of the listed building. The menu is quite posh and therefore may put off some people, however if you are(like me) not sure if you like Eggs benedict or whatever this is the place to try it. If I was to be taken on a date here I would be very impressed.

Lovely restaurant in the centre of Bournemouth, in the old Echo(newspaper) premises — hence the name. Have been for lunch and afternoon tea a few times. Fab afternoon tea, great décor and very polite, helpful staff. Also have a bar attached, which I’ve not tried, but looks nice. Also have private dining booths at the back of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

I was very dissappointed i went for afternoon tea with my book club it cost £9 each for 4 small uninteresting sandwiches a pot of tea 2 scones with jam and cream and a cake it took half an hour befor ea waitress came to take our order the sandwiches were cheap white bread cut like soldiers no garnish nothing inside there was one egg one ham one cheese and one smoked salmon it would have been nice to have a bit of lemon or pepper on the salmon and some cucumber or a bit of parsley or cress on top but they looked very uninteresting there was 3 small pots of jam on the table for 4 of us and we had to ask for another one, we had to ask for teaspoons the waitresses were very glum and not at all interested there was only a small pot of cream between 4 we had to ask for more. The toilet door kept being left open and it was very drafty the chandeliers were really lovley but i would not recommend this place and would not go again.

Very special eating experience. This is located in the old print room(funny that!) of the former Bournemouth Echo newspaper and as such is a cavernous and impressive room with black and white tiles, wooden furniture and huge chandaliers hanging from the ceilings. Lovely atmosphere and the food is excellent. Have had various meals and even afternoon tea, which is an experience in itself. Can be a bit noisy, highly recommend a visit if you want to impress.

This is a lovely tea room, full of character, which is very nice for having afternoon tea in. You can have a selection of teas, scones and cakes, served on a 3 tier cake stand, along with sandwiches and some lovely pastries. One thing to note is that quite often in the Bournemouth Daily Echo there can be several offers which appear now and then, which will save a lot of money, as it can be relatively expensive if you pay the full prices.
