My wife and 2 friends went for lunch today and we’re frankly disappointed. All of our meals were not hot, and in my case the leak chicken and ham pie, was not nice to eat, as it lacked flavour. All of us had different meals but the consensus was that the food was not up to scratch. Both my wife and I are registered disabled and were surprised to find that we had to place an order at the counter and then collect it when the electronic pager sounded to say our meals were ready. The staff were helpful and did serve us but the pub was not that busy, what it would be like if the place was packed I can only guess. The ambiance in the Pub was very pleasant but our visit was spoiled by the poor quality of our meals.

I’ve decided to rate this place five stars for what it is… A restaurant pub. Do not think it’s a five star establishment with top notch table linen. You have to find your own seats, share a menu, wait for the table to be cleaned from the previous people and order at the bar. We visited on wednesday 31st July 2013, arrived at 8pm to find only one available table. We were one of the last to sit down, not many arrived after and tables did start to clear. One thing I noticed was lots of empty plates returning to the kitchen… a very good sign. So…I had the steak and Stilton pie, with chips and peas. Others on my table had pasta, lamb and mint pie and Steak and Mushroom pie. We had to wait about 30 minutes for the food, but this didn’t bother us too much. This pub is in a nice country area with a nice atmosphere. We all enjoyed our food, the pie’s were excellent quality. For pub restaurants, this is as good as it’s going to get. Casual, very well prices(approx £15 a head including a drink) and great good. The bar staff were also very friendly. Please let me know if you have any questions. I’ll be more than happy to answer. I will return here, but not on a Friday or Saturday as I imagine it’s too busy.
