During the day this is a large community comprehensive school. It is also used for adult education classes in the evenings. Although it is a fairly modern building, it has a general air of neglect. Small patches of damp are not repaired. Broken locks on the toilet cubicles are left for weeks hanging off. Pencoed is in the poorer part of the Borough, but that does not excuse the poor cleaning levels found in this school. Walking down the corridor past the pupils’ toilets the smell of urine greets one. It is really a most unpleasant experience. The teachers and tutors may be dedicated, but it is difficult to give of one’s best in conditions like these.
