Bambers Restaurant

Following my comment on the below review, I felt it would be important to write a review:
I visited last week for a meal and couldn’t have been happier. The staff were very friendly and the service absoultely super. The Restaurant was very subtly lit with dimmed down wall lights, and every table had candles on, giving a rather romantic feeling. The log fire was also wonderful and we made the most of ordering our meal whilst sitting near it!
When my meal arrived (Beef Bourguignon) it was obviously freshly made that day, and delicious! My friends enjoyed the steak (cooked to perfection) and the Crepes (vegetarian option that week). Once our (almost licked clean) plates had been cleared, we were offered the deserts menu, and ordered a cheese board and the most delicious damson jam crème brûlée (One of our party was unable to manage desert given the generous portion sizes!). After following this with freshly made coffee and a visit to our table from the friendly chef proprieter Matt, we eventually made our way home. We can’t wait to come back again soon!

We ate at Bambers last night well one of us did! we were looking forward to our evening at Bambers how ever after being shown to our table and ordering drinks my pint of Tuborg arrived and tasted vile like vineger, the waitress changed it and the second one arrived no different from the first. So i ordered a bottle instead. The bread arrived with rock hard butter and no plates! My wife had a rib eye steak with freezing cold water cress the steak was so tough and full of sinew she asked for a steak knife which made no inroads into it. I orederd coq o vin which was just disgusting it was all minced up with bits of chicken skin the cabbage was ok but the potatoes seemed old and soggy. All in all terrible they didn’t charge for the steak and the two pints of lager had not been thrown away as we left they were sat behind the bar i assume awaiting the next customer.

PS I forgot to say the older waitress coughed the whole time, very atmospheric!
