The cocktails are nice enough but the crowd is a bit pretentious. I’m not sure why, because it’s quite shabby for a cocktail bar, especially the toilets they are quite horrible. They should invest in tidying it up a bit.

Excellent potent cocktails in a chilled out surrounding and open late. The toilets aren’t the best.

Cocktails are tasty yet there is always something lacking in atmosphere here. It’s the place Hovites go to after all the other places have closed. Seems to always have quite a few pretentious people mixed with a few cards. My boyfriend and I ended up here on our first date and the atmosphere deflated really quickly. Luckily we were already hooked on each other. ;)

Funny place, from the outside looks like a café but inside is a different story! Great nights had in here drinking cocktails… especially good as a place to go for a nightcap on way home!

Misty’s is clearly trying to be a something a bit different in the sometimes a little same-y Brighton bar scene. An older clientele is enforced by age-checking everyone, and more drinks are offered that might appeal to the slightly older crowd: cocktails and wine, that sort of thing. Why, then, is it such a badly-designed, over-priced dive? The attitude is all wrong here, as is a lot of what’s on offer… So much for something different. As you may have gathered, I don’t think much of Misty’s concept: it is purposefully aimed at 21 year olds and up, obviously trying to get Hove’s slightly more mature population out and drinking in mature surroundings. Personally, I think a bar should feel inclusive, not the opposite, but I’m more annoyed by the rubbish efforts made to make Misty’s less youthful. Does less youthful mean less colour? Dimmer lighting? No artwork? Price-hikes? Watered-down cocktails? Expensive sandwiches? Once you get inside Misty’s, it is dull. There is little to draw the eye from the bar, which has been lit up like a Christmas tree, in comparison to the dim lighting in the rest of the bar. Drinks are overpriced, and the selection slim and unenterprising. Also, my gin and tonic felt very light on gin… I should also mention that Misty’s offer food, but I doubt you’ll order it: again, far too expensive. In trying to make itself appeal to a more mature crowd, Misty’s has actually gone and alienated a huge chunk of Brighton drinkers. I find Misty’s actually a little uncouth for this, and the clientele always seems to affirm that opinion. Maybe they’re trying to hide the general poor service, or mask it with this mature tag: in the end, it’s just not good enough.

I can’t say I was as keen as Mike was, but this was a decent place to go for what I was looking for. The buy one get one free offer on cocktails is always extremely attractive, but then most places in Brighton that sell cocktails also have this offer. The deal runs from 5−9pm during weeknights, so there is time to get a few 2−4 – 1’s without arriving at the crack of dawn. The inside is comprised of wooden tables, chairs, polished floors and black walls. One complaint I would make was that the staff weren’t particularly friendly, but saying that, I didn’t exactly go here to make friends with the bar staff.

Spot on! I had my first Misty’s experience a few nights ago and will definitely be having more soon. All cocktails were 2-for-1(this may only apply on weeknights) and even without promos the drinks were fairly cheap, considering the quality of both the drinks and the service. The décor is cleverly designed, as there’s a low-hanging shelf unit above the bar that cunningly draws your eye away from any dead wall/ceiling space. This focuses your attention on their wide drinks selection, which includes everything you could want in a night. It’s actually one of the few places I would happily spend an entire evening in, as the atmosphere is lively without being rowdy. Even if it gets a little noisy you can always slip away to their lovely garden area. In short: great atmosphere, great cocktails and tasteful décor.

Brilliant bar, so chilled out! Not full of load youngesters. This is a great place to go in the week and brilliant when they are doing 2−4−1 offers. When in hove this is definately the place to go to. Waiting staff are always so friendly. The outsude garden is great aswell, even as a non-smoker its a lovely place to sit with heaters to keep you warm. Beautiful in the summer when they open out the front windows.

Oh My God the best cocktail place on earth! 2−4−1 cocktails most of the week until 9pm. Great venue — especially in summer with the windows fully open! or sitting in the Garden area. Can’t go wrong with Misty’s!

Hove’s Primerre venue! At happy hour you get get two for one cocktails and they have a really good menu to choose from. I’ve never seen anyone doing that fancy throwing-it-all-around milarky, but they do always make me a nice cocktail so I can’t complain. They serve bar food but I’ve never actually tried it. Oh, and my friend Manda assures me they have a Tom Cruise lookalike barmanbut I’ve never seen him. They have an outside courtyard area too, and I have seen that.
