Situated on West Street, Oxygen is a bar to be avoided. Shots, Shots, Shots, mixed with low prices and rowdy people is a recipe for disaster. Looks like Oxygen is no more as they have just had their licence revoked.

K, I love this place. Cheap speciality shots, all 42 of them for 75 pounds? Split amongst 7 friends, you’ve got 6 shots each, & pay a little over 10 pounds each = partyyyyy onnnnn! They have some pretty amazing speciality shots, avoid the ones with Tabasco sauce(what were they thinking?!), & you can totally do 6 without getting wasted since they’re such tiny shots & they’re mostly so sweet that chasers aren’t needed. Bathrooms smell horrible. Come here for the cheap drinks & dance a little, then head on over to a club.

Oxygen is the prime pre-drinking spot in Brighton, if you don’t feel like doing it at home. It’s a short walk from all of the major clubs, and the wheel of shots is super fun — especially when you’re indecisive or intoxicated beyond rational decision-making. It’s not a place to spend more than 30 – 40 minutes at. Go in, take a few shots, gather up your friends(mine turn into baby ducklings at the sight of alcohol) and exit.

Was in Brighton on sat for the football, with my amigos for a night out as well obv. We came across this place randomly, and feeling the urge for shots wandered in here. A huge menu of sexual innuendo named shots were layed out on the modern looking bar, and all for 2 quid! If you’re in the mood these shots are top class, the barmaid said it took her two months to learn how to make them all. I’m either very gullible for believing her or makes total sense. Def did the job and they actually tasted good too, which is not the usual up side of shots ;). Muy bien, even though they didn’t let us back in at night, due to wearing shorts(fair enough), I’d still give this a good 4 stars. oh and there’s a wheel the barmaid spins if you’re feeling lucky.

As much as it pains me declaring anywhere one star material, Oxygen really is pretty horrific. I do have to start by admitting that I am definitely not a West Street fan and this may have slightly tainted my opinion, but I went there on the assertion of a friend that it was a decent stop off bar, good for some cheap shots before hitting the clubs. Believe me it was not. The bar was a sticky mess, the staff rude and the place looked and smelt like the toilets had become merged with the bar area. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m really not a snob honest, I appreciate the allure of some cheeky cheap shots as much as the next ‘verging on past it’ twenty something, but given it’s proximity to many other West Street chain bars, with equally cheap drink deals, more space and better music, Oxygen really is one to avoid.

There are lots of shooters for 1,50 each, you will definitively find one you like. Thats what the bar is famous for, usually we go in to predrink some shooters before we go to a club. They have a food menu, but when I wanted to order I was told I better eat somewhere else cause the kitchen guy isnt there and the other guy was too lazy to make food.

If you are planning a messy night out in Brighton and wish to reach destination hammered that little quicker, then Oxygen is a must before hitting a club They have a ridiculous amount of disgusting shots on offer all reasonably priced, although argubaly the best thing about the bar is its £2 Jagerbombs. Unfortunately though, the staff seem to frown on taking advantage of these prices with the creation of a mass Jäger-train due to the mess it creates on the bar — but don’t let that stop you. Oxygen is also home to the friendliest toilet attendant in Britain, who will attempt to gain your custom through the medium of various rhyming sayings and adaptations of popular songs.

Oxygen is predominantly a shot bar, and so couldn’t fit better into the awful West St row of seedy establishments leading down to the clubs on the seafront. However, as well as all of that, it is also a relatively nice place for a meal in the daytime, serving pub classics for cheap. This raises it a little in my estimation, and is the reason for the slightly more favourable star rating, but don’t go anywhere near here at nighttime, unless you’re a big fan of this kind of seedy drinking establishment. In the daytime, Oxygen is a very hip place to grab a bite to eat, but manages to separate itself successfully from its more unpleasant nighttime reputation. The inside still looks and feels like a shot bar, but the big windows let in plenty of light, and the staff seem just as happy to serve shots to drunk young adults as serve nice food to reasonable patrons. It’s cheap and cheerful, and actually not a bad place to perch outside in the day. At night, though, it transforms into the worst kind of West St bar. Have a pub lunch here, but leave before the evening to miss the crowds of people you’d rather not associate with!

This is a well known shot bar located just off of the Brighton sea front. Particularly popular among students because of their wide ranging«shot tail» menu, Oxygen is a good place to go if you’re looking for a lively and bustling atmosphere. Drink prices are pretty good, and you can normally find a number of happy hour or drink offers. In terms of interior, Oxygen is something of a lounge, seating about 30 people(more standing room than sitting) on leather seats and sofas. They do sell food here, but i’ve been told by a member of staff that is more a licensing thing, and so staff don’t particularly recommend it. Also, on busy nights you’ll find they have a toilet attendant.

Its easy to forget, Oxygen sells food. I know! What with all the shot loving drinkers that swarm here pre-clubbing(myself most definitely included) you’d be forgive for forgetting! Oxygen is so aware its a pre-drinking venue, it advertises itself with getting you into other places for cheap! If you haven’t been there, do hit the website to get details on where to go and when… But on to the main point of this review! This place is also a restaurant of sorts, a bit like a good Wetherspoon for example. Specialising in a build your own burger option, and fajitas. Its not a bad option either, allowing you to choose any number of toppings(2 being free with the meal) to add to your meat filling… And with classics like Aberdeen Angus and chicken sitting alongside… erm… Ostrich and Buffalo, what’s not to like? I can’t honestly say I’ve tried either, but I can’t think of anywhere else that can boast to having such unusual meats on offer! I’m only really hitting 4* because of the night time side to Oxygen, but don’t poo poo the place during the day out of popular opinion!

This bar situated a stones throw from 5 of the main stream night clubs in Brighton, it is the ideal setting to start the night off. It was opened two years ago and is still as stylish and chilled as it was when it opened with a sister company opened up in hove recently. This new store clearly indicates that this bar is giving people an experience that really gets the night off with a bang.
With great drinks promotions which include ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ shots which can be selected at choice or spin a wheel to let fate decide the outcome. Every night of the week is normally busy so the atmosphere is always thriving and on the special sports events the bar has plasma screen televisions at both sides so you can choose which side you want to support and have friendly rivalries. As I play for a football club and we needed sponsoring I asked Oxygen to help, they happily supplied us with money for all forms of kit and offered even better deals on a Wednesday night which is the biggest student night of the week. It is safe to say that on this day is when the bar is full to capacity so if you like this sort of thing then Wednesday is the day.

This place, it cannot be argued has probably the widest and most varied range of shots that your ever likely to need, want, or have forced down your throat by friends. The bar itself, unless it’s a busy night like a wednesday(sports social night, which means everyone who plays sport and many who don’t, from both Universities descend on Oceana across the road) or at the weekend, this place is dead. When it’s dead I would frankly say, just don’t go in if you want to sit down and have a drink because it’s not that sort of bar, as when the crowds have gone, no-one really seems to go in. But…if your looking to get off your face on sticky, ridiculously named and conceived shots, in which there are like a 50 or so, come here. I had my first Jagerbomb here, whilst being initiated for the football team, and actually liked it, so there could always be a surprise in store.

This particular Oxygen Bar is rather strange in that it always seems to be either completely dead or full to the brim. Having personally ventured inside here during both states of being, I can confirm, for those yet to try, that you will not get any sort of discounted drinks here regardless of how empty the venue may be — even if you claim it’s your stag do, you’ve just got married, or that you have a rare, debilitating condition leaving you with only thirteen hours left to live -. If it is your birthday on the other hand, milk that fact for as many freebies as you can get away with. We took a friend of ours here the other day, and, as a consequence of it being exactly twenty-two years since he’d first emerged into the world, we managed to get him a free Jagerbomb, and a free shot. The rest of us unfortunately had to pay for our beverages, but, when a Jagerbomb is only £2 here anyway, and with shooters similarly priced, you won’t exit here feeling ripped off.
