This shop is magnificent. I’m a big fan of household items and clothing accessories that fall in to the«cute» category, and Pardon My French has its fair share. They sell old-fashioned postcards and pins displaying the Eiffel Tower, they sell terrific French tea towels, shopping bags, doormats, soaps. bedsheets, and more. This is just a tremendous independent shop, and well worth the visit.

No swearing in here, it’s all about lovely nic-nacs and everyday things to spruce up your home. The style is somewhere between farmhouse and cutesy with lots of modern patterns and funked up floral designs. They have a beautiful selection of jewellery, mostly semi-precious stone pieces, and I also noticed the cushions(as this was the end of my cross country cushion race, which I unfortunately lost and found no cushions) which were beautiful but not quite right for my living room.

This is a sweet little gift shop, more for the older woman, situated in the centre of Kemptown village. They sell toiletries, crockery, children’s toys, 50s swim suits, ornaments, storage, blankets and greetings card etc etc but a lot of the products are very feminine and floral. Some products I have to say were very over priced, £8 for a posh lip balm and £60 for a grannies trolley, but if you’re buying for a lady 30+ and have time to route about a bit then it’s definitely worth popping in.

This is a very cute little shop indeed, situated in the heart of Kemp Town Village. The first thing I noticed when I walked in is how light and colourful the place is. Another little ‘home boutique’ type place, they sell a variety of pretty things to decorate both yourself and your home and, in true Brighton fashion, most of their products are Fairtrade. They’ve got floral aprons, polka-dot throws, embroidered padded hangers, sweet little hanging laundry bags, dressing gowns in light, floral fabric… lots that I’d want, but absolutely nothing I need. They’ve also go a really cute ‘kids corner’ with stationary, games and mini musical instruments as well as novelty things — like fridge magnets with funny captions and French signs to dot around your house. All in all, not too expensive and a nice little place for gifts and a nosy around.

Pardon My French is a cute, independent store in Kemptown Village. Their elegant signage made me suspect it was going to be too frou frou for my taste but once inside, I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and laidback the staff were and how eclectic their stock is. As shown in the window, they have a varied selection of homeware from fun tea towels and mellamine plates, bowls and cups to more stylish doormats, bath towels, quilts, bedspreads and linens. In keeping with the boudoir theme, they also sell silk and cotton pyjamas, perfume, jewellery and moroccan slippers. If Audrey Hepburn lived in Brighton, I’m sure she would have shopped here!

This fab girlie shop is a little treasure trove of goodies. Situated in Kemptown Village, Pardon my French fits right in with the other independent gift stores and restaurants. The shop mainly sells kitch home wares like cushions, bed covers & comedy doormats. The French theme runs through out the store with French sweets, toiletries and gift ideas. Its a fab place to go for girlie birthday present. Pardon my French is head a shoulders above some similar over priced stores in the North Laines. Its always worth a wonder round it your perusing what the village has to offer.

Nice little boutique in Kemp Town, with a selection of nightwear, hats, jewellery, perfume and scarves. Great for gifts for women or if you just want to pamper yourself.
