This café is in an wonderful setting — an ideal place to have a drink and light snack amidst the beauty of its position in the park, by the Rose Garden, tennis courts and bowling greens. However, I was annoyed that they didn’t know if their cakes were suitable for Veggies — surprising as Brighton as probably more Veggies that anywhere else in the UK. There is a ramp outside and plenty of room to move a wheelchairs around in this café.

This is a nice little café located in the garden area of Preston Park. The outside looks very grand, with pillars and ponds leading your way, once you step inside however, you are greeted by a more dated and tired looking café. The walls are grey and there certainly are signs of decay. None the less, this is a nice place that offers a very low key place to take a break from the sunshine and enjoy a cup of tea. They also sell sandwiches, cakes and hot meals, all of which are sold at a reasonable price.

The Rotunda Café is situated in Preston park in the middle of the rose garden, as you enter the park from m the London Road entrance. The park was originally owned by a rich lord of Preston Manor so all the buildings on the land used to be part his estate. The historic value of the building can easily be seen. The park alone is a perfect haven in the middle of the busy city and has many facilities on offer including tennis courts, children play areas and a running track. So the café is great place to grab a bite before or after a work out, or even just a stop off during a leisurely stroll.

This is a lovely location, but the café itself is a wasted opportunity. It’s ‘Happy Shopper beans and plastic cheese on sliced white’ kinda place. I’d really only go there for a lolly for the kids and a cup of tea if I’m desperate. A shame because it would be fantastic place for proper afternoon tea — and could be magical in the evening…

The Rotunda is a small round(hence the name!) café situated in Preston Park. In the age-old tradition of park cafes, the Rotunda serves tea and coffee, cakes, ice-cream in the summer and not much more! Perhaps the odd sandwich too, but don’t expect a great selection if you’re looking for food at lunchtime. I would head to one of the nearby pubs instead. In the summer, the outside seating is really lovely, and the surrounding rose garden provides a pretty view. The location means that the Rotunda is heavily frequented by mothers with small children as well as elderly people. It’s not the most exciting of cafes, but it does exactly what it should. I’ve found it a particularly handy place to get an ice-cream or a cold drink whilst sunbathing on a hot summer’s day.

This is a really unique little café situated in the middle of Preston Park looking out over the rose garden. If you enter the Park through the large gates,(where the Pride parade enters), you come straight into the rose garden and find the Rotunda at the top of it. The Park having originally been part of an über rich mans estate, the Rotunda its was initially one of his buildings. Its a well worth a mission out of town as there are so many activities to be under gone in the park, as well as various different parts to explore, so its great to grab a cuppa before during or after anything you might get up to. But its such a gorgeous setting is worth visiting just for a coffee,

Isn’t «rotund» a word one uses to politely describe a person who is carrying some extra weight? A plump old soul?! Well that’s the first thing that came to mind when I saw the name of this place, however, «rotunda» refers to a round building and that is exactly what this place is. The Rotunda café is set in the delightful Preston Park and really does benefit from its location. Sitting outside is a tranquil experience, especially on a summer’s day, though the inside is not so attractive. It is far from awful, but it does seem a little outdated and has a bit of a 1990s feel about it. The majority of the people frequenting the Rotunda seem to be the elderly and mothers and babies. This means there is a quiet atmosphere, which is perfect if you want some peace and quiet. They offer food, such as quiche and salads, jacket potatoes and sandwiches, plus tea, coffee and other light refreshments. All in all, it is a nice enough place to have a coffee or a bite to eat if you’re in the Preston Park area. The staff are also very nice! I’m not so sure how nice this place is in the off-season, because I feel the real draw is the sunshine and the terrace, but try it: why not?

The Rotunda Café is one of the two cafes on the grounds of Preston Park and as such is very useful if you want to grab a coffee, drink, cake, ice-cream or some food when you are in the park. The inside of the café is not that great to sit in– it is looks quite clinical and basic with white plastic chairs and tables which look a bit cheap inside. And it echoes so that as soon as there are a few groups of people it is loud. There is a good selection of hot and cold food and drink, as well cakes and ice-creams all for very reasonable prices. The interior of this café is not what makes it brilliant though-what really makes it stand out is the view– from the wrap around terrace(where the plastic tables look fine!) you can sit and look out at the rose garden and that… with a coffee and some cake, is worth some time!

This can be a magical place. It really is round, and it can open right up in summer. Its at the Brighton end of Preston Park, and when it opens up, its onto the newly refurbished Rose Garden. The tennis courts are nearby, and if you want the healthy, slo-mo version of the Brighton experience, this is impeccable.
