I have been going to the shahi tandoori since it opened 22 years ago. Food is always excellent. Service is 100% and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The best take away and restaurant to eat in curry in Brighton!!!

Very fresh, very tasty. Ordered twice so far. Quick delivery. Reasonable price Ive had the pathia chicken curry and pilau rice with kulcha naan. Second time round I got the king prawn tikka, daal soup and lemon rice. No heavy oils, lovely chunky grilled veg with my prawn tikka. Dont really write reviews but this was my first time in Brighton and Shahi made it a memorable experience.

I spent some time reading the reviews for this place and we thought we’d give it a shot. Well, I’m really glad we did! It was cheaper than most indians and tasted so good we carried on eating it far beyond the point when we should have stopped! We have tried so many indian takeaways(struggling to find a good one that delivered) and this is now in my favourites list. It’s not quite reached a 5* as although I loved my vegetable kurma, mister said his chicken curry had an odd after taste. Delivered on time, hot and with poppadoms not crushed to tiny bits. lovely :o)

Well renowned as the most bangingest curry house in Brighton. Kick ass vindaloos and speciality dishes all for a great price. Get on that!

I think very highly of this Indian restaurant. From the first time I dined here to the second, third, forth… I’ve lost count on how many take aways! — Yet I still can’t think of anything to fault it. It is split into two halves, a restaurant and a take away(makes sense). The take away area has a TV to watch, comfortable sofas and a couple of bowls of Bombay mix to munch on while you wait! How perfect is that?! Next door in the restaurant area, the interior is pleasantly decorated with plenty of comfortable seating, the menu is a pretty standard with the typical Indian cuisine dishes, but it has such a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff are lovely, that’s what rewards this my generous 5 stars. I once ate here and being the slightly dipsy person that I am I left my bag inside the restaurant and the waiter chased us all the way to the end of the road until we stopped! Another time I ate here when I wasn’t overly hungry(I just fancied an Indian alright.!) And because I couldn’t finish half of the meal they offered to cook me something else on the house and a free drink, afraid that I didn’t like it! I’ve come back many times since so hopefully they’re reassured that I find their food absolutely delicious. The korma is creamy, but not too creamy and the mild flavours are cooked to a very high standard in my opinion. The service really is great, I think I once went in here, and about 5 minutes later they brought our food out!(To be fair it was about 5:30pm but still) They like to make sure you go away feeling very satisfied — and satisfied I was! A little too satisfied if you know what I mean — time to lay down with a glass of water, unable to move until you feel less full up — can only be a good thing right?! The prices are good as well, maybe even slightly under average for Brighton. I can’t say any more, I would highly recommend this place.

You can never have enough good quality Indian restaurants(so says I), without doubt Shahi Tandoori deserves to be added to that category. It’s located in an odd place at the bottom of Ditchling Rise, because of the location you might never have come this way, I really would recommend it though. ‘Shahi’ is a little bit cheaper then the more central Indian restaurants(and take aways, they do both). The food is also of a very good quality; I had the rogan josh and passanda, both of which I could eat 7 days a week. The area isn’t the nicest, the décor is a little dated, but it’s a fantastic place filled with Indian charm(and food).

I’ve had a many a great meal in the restaurant, take away AND delivery from the Shahi. I’ve always found the people who work there to be friendly and courteous. The menu is as wide ranging as most Indians, but I would say the quality of the food is above average.

I have heard a few people describe this place as the best Indian restaurant in Brighton. Whilst I don’t think I’ve eaten in enough to warrant corroborating that statement, I can say I ate here recently and it was pretty damn good! What I particularly like about Shahi Tandoori is that it is split into two quite separate spaces, one side is the restaurant and one is the takeaway. This is genius! There’s nothing more annoying than people wandering through while you’re eating to pick up their order, letting a draft in and spoiling the ambiance of the restaurant. Well Shahi has it covered. Food-wise, the side dishes are all great… I particularly like the Bombay Aloo, the Sag Paneer and the Onion Bhajis– delicious! I can also recommend the Vegetable Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. Since this place is just around the corner, we often pop down to pick up a few side dishes to go with a home-cooked curry and they never look at us funny, despite our paltry order! I like them.
