Call me fickle but if I ever win the lottery, one of the first things I’m going to do is go to The Lollipop Shoppe and order: A Zero Lighting PXL Pendant light A Vitra Polder Sofa I fell in love with both these items when I saw them in the store and my love has only deepened since seeing them in Pedro Almodovar’s Broken Embraces. In case you haven’t visited The Lollipop Shoppe yet, it’s Brighton’s coolest and most stylish design store. As well as stocking my favourite lamp and sofa, they also sell Eames rocking chairs, Knoll Bertoia side-chairs, Ottoman leather sofas and lounge chairs, George Nelson day beds, Artifort chaise longues and postbox red ICON bar stools. The shop is so tiny, they usually rotate the stock with a permanent display of shelves for smaller items like clocks, calendars, tea-pots, trays and Wallpaper City Guides. The furniture is naturally quite dear but that’s the price for buying designer classics rather than reproductions or bad copies. What’s more, almost everything they stock is guaranteed to still look amazing in ten or twenty years.
