Good ale, tucked away, not bad food. Loos could be refurbed. don’t expect much on that front. 31st May 201310 pm Go catch the last night. a young enterprising man from Dublin who bravely goes where not many comedians usually dare — into the unknown. including his audience as part of the act. go ready not to judge or compare, but to be free and silly like a child! And perhaps not to know what is going on but it doesn’t matter. Last night 31st May 201310pm.

This pub should come with a danger warning — it’s open until 3am, even on a school night. Sometimes, I need a pub to actually shut for me to leave it. Otherwise, a work-based hangover will result :-( It’s a fun little pub though, and ideal on a weekend when everything else is shut and you just fancy one more little drink… They have a good selection of beers on tap plus all your standard pub drinks. They don’t serve food but they let us grab a take-away pizza and eat it in the bar. The décor is old style pub with modern touches here and there. As others have mentioned, there is a large open fire which looks lovely for cold winter nights. Upstairs they have a small function room that seats about 30 people. They often have comedy nights here throughout the year. The only negative is that the music is too loud, particularly on a week day night. I like to be able to talk to my friends, I don’t like to have to shout to make myself heard. But hey, maybe I’m just getting old… The choice of music is pretty cool though. Definitely one to check out for late drinks and events.

This is a lovely pub that I discovered over the winter months. This was an especially good time to walk into the place as I was met by a lovely roaring log fire(this will always score highly in my book). The bar is a mass of dark wood and comfy sofas. They also hold a lot of live entertainment here. A guy was setting up for an open mike night when I was there and I noticed a full month of upcoming events. The pub is actually quite hidden away down a side street of Kemp Town, but is still very central. I can imagine that it would get very busy in the evening, but the overall layout is spacious. They have a good selection of ale on tap and for a winter warmer this place really hit the spot.

The Three and Ten has become one of the most important venues in Brighton, as well as a perfectly respectable pub in its own right. It’s strange to think that the Three and Ten should be such a respected venue of the comedy circuit: the stage barely holds a single performer, and it can barely seat 50. Still, they get plenty of pretty big and important comedians gracing the stage: it was even nominated(might even have won?) for the Best Venue in the South award from Chortle recently. They also have a pretty impressive marketing team: there’s always a flyer pack with whats on in most of the Lanes pubs: grab a flyer and see if a favourite is playing sometime soon! The pub itself is pretty standard fare: amazingly, the crowd aren’t really tied into the venue upstairs: they seem to be local office boys and girls, which seems a little strange for the out-of-the-way pub. It’s worth coming early if you want somewhere to sit on the weekend, most times I’ve had to stand and wait for the venue to open: a shame, but the pub is actually quite titchy. Still, combined with the venue, this makes for a great evening spot. Find a comic, and have a go!

I went through something of a love affair with the Three and Ten, coming here weekly for a few months. On a good day, the pub is atmospheric and exciting, with a busy young crowd keeping noise levels high. The downside of such busy nights within a small pub like is that it can be impossible to find a seat. It can be a bit crowded, and that does sometimes detract from the night. None the less, this is a good pub that sells a standard selection of drinks. Upstairs in their function room, you will find Brighton Frine events, theatre and music.

Brilliant pub! Takes a bit of finding but I love little hidden gems. We were there a couple of weeks ago for one of their comedy nights which are run upstaris and can only sit around 30 people and it was excellent. Most of the comics do the festival circuit, some can be a bit hit and miss but we’ve always been pretty lucky. Its great sitting tis close to stage too. We sat right at the front last time though and got a bit picked on but its all part of the fun. Now, the pub. Its a really good, cozy place with a decent sized bar serving both sides of the establishment. The clientelle are mostly young and you get a good DJ playing housy music on a Friday night. The bar can get a bit jam packed on a Friday and Saturday which is a little frustrating when your thirsty but I guess thats the same of most places in Brighton.

The Three and Ten is one of my fave bar in Brighton, its slightly hidden down the back of St James St and I probably wouldn’t have noticed it had I not been taken there. It attracts a really varied crowd of Brightonians and they always have excellent music on. It has a really mellow vibe with low lighting and a modern décor. It also has a late slightly later license I think last orders are at 1am at weekends. They have allsorts if theatre, music ad comedy performances upstairs at the venue, listings on the ‘upstairs at three and ten’ website.

I’ve noticed something. Brighton has a real dearth of late-night establishments that cater to the ‘bored of the pub but don’t want to go clubbing’ crowd. Enter Three and Ten. This place used to be the Queen’s Head, but since it’s refurbishment and renaming, it has become one of Brighton’s hippest evening hang outs– in my opinion it really hits the mark. It’s the perfect mixture between pub and club. You feel as if you’ve upped the ante somewhat, just because the place has a classy vibe, but you don’t feel forced to dance like a fool whilst sweat drips from the ceiling, as is the way in so many of Brighton’s tiny clubs! Three and Ten does get busy and draws a really varied crowd, meaning it can have a great atmosphere at the weekend. There is often also a DJ and the sofas are a nice place to just chill out and have a quiet drink during the week or early on a weekend eve. The bar is in the middle of the room, meaning you can get served on both sides(which always fills me with a false hope that I will get served faster!) and the seating is dotted around in every available corner. Upstairs there is a fringe theatre, imaginatively named ‘Upstairs at the Three and Ten’ – they have some great local comedy and edgy theatre events going on– well worth a look!

The Three and Ten is a lil bit hidden but always brimming with activity. It has a cool, dark late night wine bar vibe but also a happy pub atmosphere. Its décor has a very modern feel offset by the artwork and lighting but still alot of traditional pub furniture, you cant beat a bit of chesterfield action. It has an really friendly if a ittle crazed security guard whos worth a visit. It probably has the most varied clientele of all my regular haunts with everyone from young fashionistas to ageing Brighton hipsters. They also have a comedy, theatre and music venue upstairs details of which can be found at .

Nice little boozer that’s perfect for a post-work beer or a catch up with a mate. We use it for after-work drinks most weeks. It seems to be slightly under the radar, given its small size and slightly tucked away location, but the crowd is a nice classic Brighton bunch, the staff are pleasant and keep good music piping through the soundsystem, and it’s just somewhere we’re comfortable to sit for an hour or three getting slowly piddled. Don’t go there for food though because(unless I’m mistaken) they don’t do it :)
