The food in 4⁄5 quite good and fresh but the service is very average, abrupt. You have to wait for a long time to be served even though restaurant is not full. I like the place itself, the atmosphere is nice but as the service is resembling fast food restaurant I wouldnt give more than 3*

Went here for a lunch meal. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. They were about to change their menu during my visit, so there were a few things missing, however, it didn’t matter the food was good! One of the best restaurants of the chain I have been to so far!

It’s not bad, as mentioned below by others, but compared to how good Italian food can be, it’s pretty average. It would have been a 3-star, but the service was below average, so had to be a 2-star. Fine if you near and need an Italian hit, but if you’re planning ahead, there are better places to have dinner.

Zizzi is worlds apart from Ask and the other Italian chains that make up the same company. There were so many things on the menu that sounded great it took me ages to choose… and once I had narrowed it down, I was not disappointed. I’ve been a couple of times now and the food is consistently good and the staff are great. I always leave resolute to return soon. In comparison my last visits to Ask and Bill’s left me resolved to never return.

We went there yesterday and the food and kitchen was exellent. The restaurant looks nice, too. Unfortunately the service staff was very inattendive. They were talking to each other all the time instead of serving us… they didnt even clear the old glasses after we had new drinks! Though I can recommand the place for its awsome food and location!

I came to Zizzi with a few girlfriends after a long shopping day at The Lanes and Churchill Square. We had no idea where to eat and what was good, so we randomly decided to eat here after seeing the cute simple atmosphere from the window. We were seated upstairs and typically when you’re seated at a different room from the main lobby, you’re bound to get poor service. But not here! The service was great, the food was delicious and the ambiance was quite romantic! Though I don’t remember the names of the dishes we got, whatever we randomly ordered tasted great! I got the something ravioli and a few other friends got pasta. One friend got a salad, which tasted crisp and fresh too. Of course, we all tried a little bit of each other’s food and there was not one out of the four dishes I tried that I did not like. I liked them all! The table next to us ordered a few appetizers as their dinner(bread, calamari just to name a few), I kept seeing and smelling their good food and definitely want to come back and try the other dishes on the menu. I’m a hungry visiting student from the US and if you ask me, this is a good place to go if you want to prove people wrong when they say the food in the UK isn’t good!

In a city with many fine restaurants, and plenty of good local Italians too, it feels a bit strange to recommend a chain like Zizzis. But it’s a good place to eat out and I think the staff — especially the very efficient and friendly manageress — make it stand out. I like a place with brisk, efficient service and a problem solving can do attitude: Zizzis gets that right. On the corner of Ship Street and looking out over the bustle of the Lanes, it’s a pleasant place to have a glass of wine, a coffee and a pizza and watch the world go by. Their new Rustica pizza range boasts very tasty, thin and crispy, proper Italian pizzas, that are big enough for two to share. The pleasant, tasteful, modern, airy interior is also refreshing: not a red gingham table cloth in sight!

You shouldn’t allow preconceptions to steer you away from Zizzi. That would be a mistake. Although some of the surrounding establishments may be a little sub-par Zizzi is surprisingly good quality. Everything from service to taste is spot on. Serving a range of Italian food– including authentic, stone-baked, thin-crust Pizzas– it’s much better than most run-of-the-mill Italian places. Their garlic bread is testament to the kitchen’s skill, as the caramelised onions and perfectly baked bread make it some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Add to this the reasonable prices and you have a remarkably good value meal. With such a warmly designed interior and competent staff I sincerely recommend Zizzi to anyone strolling through town looking for a great value dinner.

Zizzi is a chain, and I refrain from reviewing from chain places because too often they are actually the same. Zizzi is a bit different however; as a restaurant, things like location and modernity of the décor play a significant factor in the enjoyment of your meal. Zizzi is located in a lovely location within the South Laines, the restaurant is spacious and new. The food quality is really quite good, similar to that of Pizza Express, perhaps even better. One downside was the waitress who was serving us, she was rude and uninterested(perhaps because we used a two for one voucher).

My first experience at Zizzi was a grand one. It was made even better by the fact that I had a very delicious meal for free. My boss(kind-hearted woman that she is), took the staff out for dinner. And I’m not one to decline an invitation, especially if Italian food is going to be on the menu. I settled on the Seabass Al Vino, and it was an excellent choice. My co-workers even nodded their head after I made that choice, indicating to me that they too thought it was an excellent choice. They also serve some fantastic pasta dishes, and everything that was ordered looked absolutely splendid. For dessert, I had the Tiramisu. I felt bad for ordering it, because it was a bit pricey. But after I started eating it, I didn’t care. It was delicious. I hope my boss will take me back here so I can once again enjoy a free, and delicious Italian meal.

Zizzi’s is a nice step up from most of the Italian restaurants around Brighton, offering tasty and inexpensive pizza and pasta that puts some of the smaller places around the corner to shame. It’s main problem is the direct competition it faces from Pizza Express across the road: both are big chains, both serve slightly more upmarket pizza… I’m personally more of a Pizza Express man, but Zizzi’s upmarket brand of Italian is not something I’d push off my plate. If you haven’t been here before, expect nicely upmarket stuff, just don’t expect anything too out there: it’s still your basic Italian, just nicely done. Zizzi’s in the Lanes is a nice place to seat and eat, primarily because of the location: the restaurant curves around the corner a little, creating a pleasant little promontory: certainly a different sort of dining experience. As well as that, I won’t need to spend too long talking about Zizzi’s quality: it is, after all, a restaurant chain. It’s just especially noteable in this part of town, where most of the Italian restaurants are pretty poor. Have some proper Italian, go to Zizzi’s or Pizza Express: you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re sick of the endless cheapo, and let’s face it, not very special Italian restaurants that dominate the South Lanes restaurant scene, Zizzi is a good alternative. The service doesn’t feel slapdash and the food is tasty and made with care. Whilst I appreciate what the cheapo restaurants are offering(no-one can deny that £3 is a bargain for a pizza), there’s only so many greasy margharitas I can eat! Zizzi’s pizzas are wood-fired and taste it. The menu is interesting and whilst they have the classics, they also have some unusual pizzas– meat lovers should try the ‘Sofia’ or the ‘Cotto E Funghi’, both are yummy. The tomato pesto bread is also delicious– I keep trying to recreate it at home, but I just can’t get it to taste as good. The vegetarian pizzas are less inspiring– in fact the menu is pretty meat and seafood heavy in general– great for the likes of me, but not tailored to suit everyone’s needs! What’s especially great about the Brighton restaurant is it’s location… big glass windows provide a nice view of the South Lanes and it’s a great spot if you fancy a drink afterwards, with the Cricketer’s and the Black Lion just across the way. Be warned, if you dine here at the weekends you will be subjected to an endless parade of hen dos, as they weave their way drunkenly to the next pub!

I’m not usually a fan of chains but I think Zizzi is one of the better ones. They choose nice spots in good locations and the food is of a consistently high standard. I usually visit the Brighton one whenever my folks visit and so far, we’ve never had a bad or dissappointing experience. The fact they have a wood-fired oven which makes divine thin-crusted pizzas and thick, mouth-watering calzones means I usually opt for the goats cheese pizza with caramelized onions and rocket. They also serve a great selection of pasta, risotto, meat and fish dishes however, as well as the usual Italian side-dishes like salad, mozarella and tomato and dough balls. The service is great, the wine-list is reasonable and we’ve always left feeling full and happy. The close proximity to the beach also means we can wander home along the sea-front. What’s not to love?

Not a bad restaurant at all. The food is quite good and the staff are very professional and friendly. The interior design is excellent and it’s really nice to sit and watch the pizzas going in and out of the stone ovens.

As with the other reviewer, the best thing about the Brighton branch of Zizzis is its location, snug in the Lanes it is in a lovely building and is much bigger than it looks, would recommend also getting a window table its lovely to watch the life of the lanes busying around. The menu is good and not offering much different from other Italian chains but it all tastes good and the service is sound. Really enjoy their pasta dishes.

As chain restaurants go this one really isn’t too bad ! The menu is predictable but the food is actually very tasty. Possibly a little bit more expensive than it’s comparable chain competitors — but arguably a little bit better. Portions are generous. This Brighton branch is right in the heart of the lanes and surrounded by pubs for a pre-dinner drink. The restaurant has huge windows — so ask for a table by the window and do a bit of people watching over a plate of pasta and a glass of wine !!
