Clifton Hotels have done a really good job of creating three fantastically different venues all in one huge building. My favourite of them has to be Café Clifton. It sits about five to ten feet higher than the road on the corner of the street and is surrounded by grass, so it is the sun for the whole day. You are looking out over the area around the hotel, which for the most part is a peaceful residential street with a pretty church. The sandwiches are nice as are the cakes. I used to have meetings there all the time because it was so light and peaceful and you could always get a table. But really I find it perfect to read here with a coffee, it’s almost like a little hidden away, secluded spot away from the hectic Triangle or Whiteladies Road and ideal to just relax and take a break from it all. They even have lovely large flat sofa/bed type furniture for you to sprawl out on and really take it easy.
