The Charcole Grill is a serviceable take-away that has always got some kind of special offer on, making it a regular haunt for the students who live in the area. Serving mainly Kebabs, pizza and chicken, there’s not a great deal on the menu for vegetarians, unless cheesy chips and margarita pizza are considered to be staple components of your veggie diet. There’s limiting seating inside, but it’s all of the shiny plastic-fantastic variety with the benches bolted to the tables… fine if you’ve staggered there after consuming a couple too many in town, and have weaved your way up the never-ending hill to the top of Gloucester Road, but not so appealing when sober. Service is quick, and the staff are friendly enough. But it’s too close to The Rising Sun for me to pay it much more than a cursory glance, unless it’s a Tuesday(when The Rising Sun is closed). When I do call in, it’s always for a Kebab, and so I can’t vouch for the rest of the food on offer.
