One of the originals In Bristol. I always loved popping in for a romantic meal with my girlfriend. I believe it is still the same great quality and a lovely intimate dinner for two if you fancy spoiling your partner. of course now there a few to choose from and in central Bristol depending on where you are you can find a great Italian.

One of the best Italians in the city is located just outside Bristol Temple Meads and has been plying it’s trade there for over 30 years. I used to work close to this restaurant and had to walk passed it every evening for a couple of years and I can’t count the amount of times I couldn’t resist popping in for dinner rather than waiting till I got home. The food is superb and has a real home cooking feel to eat. Having been there for 30 years it certainly doesn’t harp back to those terrible 70’s Italians, but it is definitely more traditional and less poncey than some of it’s more contemporary counterparts. The prices are very reasonable, the service is excellent and the staff are very warm and friendly. If you love Italians, then this should be on your radar if your looking for somewhere to go in Bristol.

I have been dining at this ‘gem’ of a restaurant for over 25 years and can only agree with the numerous ‘foodies’ and critics who all share the same opinion that food at Don Giovannis restaurant is, and always has been consistantly ‘top drawer’, hence its existance for nearly 3 decades under the same ownership and chef! The menu is extensive and the specials seem to change frequently so more often than not I find myself spoilt for choice, my only criticism!

Very nice Italian almost opposite Bristol Temple Meads train station. We ate here twice in one weekend as we liked it so much the first time. Fantastic and huge pizzas, lovely pasta and great steak. Also very good value for money(about £35 for two people including wine but not dessert). Unfortunately we were too full to try the chocolate cake but it looked lovely at the next table over. Quick and friendly service.

I have to disagree with the two previous reviews of this restaurant. I ate here a few weeks back as i was staying near by and had an injury so wanted to eat close to my hotel. With hindsight however, i should’ve walked in pain somewhere else. The food was bland, the garlic bread starter was similar to frozen ones i’ve had out of tesco’s, the lasagne was greasy and the meat lacked taste and the dessert, a cappuccino crème brûlée, was rather grim. I would estimate that i’ve been to about 10 different italian restaurants over the past 6 months and this is certainly my least favourite.

Lovely little italian right by Temple Meads. Serves a whole range of dishes from pasta to veal and at quite reasonable prices. Atmosphere is intimate with soft lighting and background music and whilst there isnt much seating it does have a cosy atmosphere. Can get quite busy so best to book in advance. Staff are great, really polite and friendly — even offer you doggie bags if you dont eat all your meal. Oh and did i mention that they make THEBEST chocolate cake ever. They even take orders and let you take the cake away, with prior notice.
