For Chinese food in Bristol, this place is the sh*t. Owner pays attention to detail in an attempt to bring you the best experience from China. The food is very authentic and tasty. I was shocked to find such Chinese dining experience all the way in Bristol. I am pretty convinced that it’s the best in town.

After spending ages searching for somewhere to eat in Valentine’s Day, my husband and I had almost resigned ourselves to a pizza in the hotel room. Thankfully we called dynasty. Fabulous dim sum, and lovely salt and pepper squid, a triumph! Doesn’t look anything from the outside, and is down a side street, but the food and service are great.

Today is my mums birthday and she decided she wanted to go for Dim Sum, I remembered reading Unilocal’s Bristol Community managers 5 star review on Dynasty so I suggested we give it a try. Four of us went for lunch and were all very impressed, the staff are so friendly they accommodated everything we asked for and made a fuss of the birthday girls. They also offered advice and recommendations when we ordered. The dim sum was light and fresh and really tasty, my favourite was the pork and prawn… Amazing!!! We also had the beef and vegetable noodle dish, to share between us and this was delicious. We are ALOT between us and shared a bottle of wine, and the bill came to about £80 which was excellent value. I would highly recommend Dynasty, it will definitely be a regular of mine from now on and I’m looking forward to my next visit.

I posted a Facebook status a week or so ago saying how Bristol had a lack of Dim Sum. Within 5 minutes a stream of replies came in saying ‘Dynasty’. I thought it was just a Chinese restaurant. Oh how wrong I was. It is SO much more! I am often put off ordering Chinese food. I’m generally disappointed with sloppy, over-cooked and over-colorful ‘stuff’. But having spent 2 years in Sydney where there is a huge Asian community, I fell in love with Dim Sum and the Yum Cha restaurants they have. Yum Cha is basically a restaurant where the waiters walk round with trolleys of Dim Dum and you just pick what you want as they come past. Genius, I know! So I decided to meet my cousin and her gorgeous 14 month old daughter for lunch here last Friday and see what all the fuss was about. The menu is mostly written in Chinese, as were roughly 80% of the guest, which is always a good sign! The décor is a little dated but still quite nice. They have the spinny tables where you can pass the food around without moving which I love! We didn’t get one but I’d book a table of 8 just to get one; I’m a sucker for a gimmick! We ordered 7 dishes between us and every single one of them was absolutely delicious. The stand out dish for me was the Prawn and Pork dumplings. I wish I couldn’t remember what they were all called, but I don’t think it matters — it’s all good! The waiting staff were so good with Dotty(the baby). They got her a little highchair and kept coming over and cooing at her. I’ve not tried the Chinese food from Dynasty, only the dim sum. I probably would, but I’d find it very difficult not to order 7 dishes of dim sum to go with it. Dynasty: a new favorite for me. I can’t wait to go back!

Dim Summy yum yum! I regularly visit Dynasty on a Sunday with my Hong Kong Chinese friend and her family and we always have a lovely time. I can’t tell you what any of the dishes are called because we just tick boxes on a sheet but I can tell you that it is all delicious from the deep fried squid to the pot sticker dumplings to the crab and pork dumpling and the strange noodly doughnut thing all accompanied by interesting and varied dipping sauces and washed down with as much jasmine tea as you can drink. I love it when we get a round spinny table as it’s easier to share everything, I’ve only ever had dim sum at dynasty but I have heard great stuff about the other food too !

Either this place has had a personality transplant or all the previous reviewers were taking happy pills with their food. Dynasty is appalling. Three of us had lunch there, ordering a range of dishes from the dim sum and main menus including a rice dish, noodle dish, soup, fish, chicken etc. In other words, we gave the kitchen every opportunity to prove itself. The dim sum ‘chive balls’(which turned out to contain prawns, although the menu hadn’t mentioned this) were ok. The soft shell crab was ok. Everything else was frankly disgusting. Lemon chicken consisted of tough, hard, tasteless, flat chunks of unidentifiable flesh coated in a gritty brown batter and doused in lemon sauce that would have been more appropriately served with sponge pudding(though that would have been unfair to the pudding) and reminded one of lavatory cleaner in both smell and consistency. Roast duck noodle soup was a huge bowl of globby noodles in stock obviously made from a cube with four slices of fat, bone, and gristle. I think I got one bit of duck flesh and even that was really rather unappetizing. Some broccoli in soy sauce was stringy and well nigh impossible to eat. Chicken with mushrooms and rice turned out to be another piece of bone and fat, with one mushroom. The rice was edible. Dim sum pumpkin balls were revolting things(surprisingly full of semi liquid peanut butter) which stuck to the roof of one’s mouth like cheap white bread. It was foul. As one of the party required gluten free food we were happy to learn that all their batters are made from potato starch. What a shame the batter was grotty and its contents worse. Added to the this, the place is a hideous, cavernous, noisy hall with no atmosphere and the service that other reviewers valued was clearly on holiday the day we went. The staff were either slightly useless or slightly agressive, or both. And it’s not even cheap. Fail on all counts. Don’t go near it.

If you’re a visitor to Bristol, you may well be staying in one if the plethora of hotels in this locale. If so, this is a perfect venue for a meal before heading into the pubs and clubs in the centre. The cuisine is ace: a great selection of set meals for big parties, and lots of fresh and unique dishes to make this place memorable. Without doubt the best Chinese Restaurant in Bristol. Service is impeccable. if that ain’t enough to convince you– what about the standard fortune cookie to finish?!

I’m not usually a huge fan of Chinese food. After trying Thai food, many Chinese dishes just seem a bit gloopy and bland, with way too many green peppers. Dynasty, however, is a good Chinese restaurant that ticks all the boxes: the décor is stylish and elegant, the dining area is spacious, the staff are very welcoming and efficient, and the food is tasty(neither bland nor particularly gloopy!). And thanks to this, the business has been going for a decade now. It’s rather tucked away in a side street not far from Bristol Bridge, next to the rather shabby looking Kin Yip Hon Chinese Supermarket, but don’t let that put you off. Weekend nights get really busy, so book in advance or be willing to opt for a take-away instead if there are no tables free!

I always find that there are so many Chinese and Indian restaurants that just feel more like takeaways, with less care on the actual dining in experience. However Dynasty is actually a really lovely and ‘fine’ place to eat, and their Chinese food is brilliant. The staff are all so friendly and look after you from the moment you step in the door, and the place is well decorated with beautifully set out tables. It is also deceivingly large, and has the capacity to seat a lot of people. On Friday and Saturday nights I’d definitely recommend booking in advance, but on weekdays you should be okay just to pop in without booking. As for prices they are very reasonable, and as well as a dining in option they do offer a takeaway and delivery service. Dynasty is also happy to take party bookings, they will rearrange their seating area to suit your needs!

Without a doubt the best chinese restaurant in Bristol. Good food, service and décor. A place for special occasions due to cost but your alternative is driving to London.

It may be well hidden, but Dynasty is definitely worth the find. Recently hailed by the Observer/Guardian as one of the top five Chinese restaurants in the UK, all I can say is that this is certainly the best Chinese restaurant I’ve dined in in Bristol. Boasting a spacious, ambient interior with a beautiful oriental aesthetic, the venue gently immerses you into an authentic dining experience. The menu is extensive, offering a huge selection of starter dishes and main courses. Try the Peking Duck for a truly heavenly experience(honestly, this was the first time I’d sampled duck and I was blown away by the tenderness of this dish.) And just when you thought there was no more room for flattery, I’d be a fool not to mention the friendliness and efficiency of the staff here. Furthermore, it’s also worth mentioning the number of native Chinese folk you’ll find dining at Dynasty– always a good sign of the authenticity of a restaurant. With regard to prices, expect to pay a little above average for what is guaranteed to be an exquisite dining experience.

This excellent Chinese restaurant is located in rather a strange place. I would never have known about it, had a friend not arranged a birthday meal there. Despite its non-central location, the restaurant itself is actually very large, which is a good job, because on Friday and Saturday nights it can get pretty busy. I can only attribute this to the quality of the food, which really is excellent. I can highly recommend the dim sum — I ordered a range of dishes and every single one was extremely tasty. It’s not the cheapest Chinese you’ll find in Bristol, but it’s definitely worth it for the quality of the dining.

At a push I’d have to say that I probably prefer Indian to Chinese cuisine, but when I go to a really, really good Chinese restaurant it’s a little harder to call. And Dynasty is possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Bristol. First of all the setting of the resturant and it’s interior is superb. Spacious and elegant, this is fine dining Chinese style. A lot of care and attention has clearly gone in to creating a warm and welcoming restaurant and this level of professionalism is carried on by the excellent service and more importantly the food. If you love Chinese food then this is the place to go in Bristol. Can’t really find a fault with it to be honest.

The food here is really very good and the choice is extensive too. It isn’t cheap, though there are set lunchtime menus whcih offer better value. The staff are friendly, in the main, but we have had several miscalculations on the bill at the end of the meal — with items that we haven’t ordered somehow managing to find their way onto the total(this has happened twice now — so WATCH the total carefully!).

A quality chinese albeit it in a somewhat strange location away from most other restaurants. It is however only about 5 mins from either Welsh Back or Temple Meads. The restaurant is very large and i’ve never seen it come close to being full, however this just means that the service is a bit quicker so i’m not complaining. The food itself is very tasty, i prefer the starters over the mains, particularly the Dim Sum and Chicken Satay Skewers. The Duck is very flavoursome and you get a decent amount. There are a very large selection of main courses and of the ones i’ve tried they’ve been nice, however i was slightly disappointed by the Chicken Satay. Overall though a very good chinese with a large, tasty menu and nice staff. It also always seems to have quite a few Chinese people eating there which i tend to think reinforces that the food is particularly decent.
