Great little game shop. I dont go here to buy new releases because i find it expensive when you can get great deals online on new games but im always nosing through the pre owned stuff and ive found some great games in here. The pre owned dvds are a good thing to have a look through, ive got some good films and boxsets in here. They sell older games here too — sega magadrive ect which is great! The guy who owns it can seem a bit of a grump but when you approach him hes normaly friendly and happy to help. They offer part exchange but you dont get a lot for what youve got although ive only part exchanged here so have nothing to compare it to.

Long gone it would seem are the days of catapults, tipping cows and throwing eggs. This is the golden age of digitalisation where games are played not on bicycle around the estate(council not country) but across the Google-sphere — on the games consoles. Whether it’s racing cars, building virtual cities or leading teams of commandoes through the Middle East(propaganda anyone?) there’s a game for everyone these days. Due to the high expense of many high street retailers, places like Game Scene have set up to provide more affordable, pre-loved numbers — and fair play to them. This shop is absolutely stacked from wall to wall with games for all sorts of consoles and devices. It’s not really my forte so I can’t specify which ones but judging by the huge array of colour and shape I’m guessing they’re pretty well stocked. There’s also a really good choice of DVDs to choose from, with some blockbusters for a mere quid or two. Game on.

This store is clearly for the budget-conscious gamer in all of us and I would recommend a trip out here if you’re looking for a bargain. It’s not the best for the latest thing, but for a classic that you’ve long forgotten about but wouldn’t mind chucking a tenner in to relive your childhood, then it’s top notch. Don’t know if I’d trust buying a console from here(and there’s always cheaper models on the internet, especially via eBay, of course), but for games, I’ve never had a problem disc or anything like that. Yep, pretty good on the whole.

Console games are everywhere these days, you can even pick one up whilst doing the weekly shop, but back when I was younger and the very proud and happy owner of a Sega Master System there were only a hanful of places where you could pick up games which, much like today, were quite an exspensieve purchase. Thankfully though there have always been those trusty second hand places to go in search to get your new game thrill, but different to when i was younger to when i was younger, we now have stores which solely sell games — as well as consoles — and Gamescene is a great example of this! The shop boasts a great selection of pre-owned games and consoles under it’s roof, along with dvds and even vhs’ for all of those retro cats out there who still have a video player stacked in the home entertainment centre(mine, like many others around the country, is still nestled under the television, although it’s main function these days is to keep me updated with the time). I suggest that next time you fancy a new game for your console to pop along to Gamescene and see what they can offer you — you could leave with quite a few for the same price you would buy these games brand new!

Another one of those great second-hand game and video stores. This one, as the name of the shop suggests, specialises more in games, everything from your Wii’s, PS3’s & Xbox 360 to your Nintendo Ds, Gameboy Advance, and even retro PC and console games. They have a small selection of pre-owned consoles and controllers. Be prepared to be looking for quite a while if there is something specific you are after as everything is a little ramshakle The selection of DVD’s is ok, with some good boxset and even some VHS’s! I know… how very retro!
