Bog standard greasy pastries– there is nothing special about Greggs. But for the prices they offer a pretty good deal. The best thing about it is the price. Other than that there is nothing special. The people that work there are about as unamused with life as you could be. Their standard uniform is as standard as the food– and probably cost less.

I really want to like Greggs. Everyone else I know thinks its the best thing since sliced bread, but I always find myself really let down when I finish my pasty. Price wise, you can’t really beat them, with a pasty not costing more than a squid and the same for the bakery. I just personally find the pasties too greasy and weirdly sickly and yet again, the same can be said for the bakery products. This particular one on Gloucester Road is handy if you are on a long walk but otherwise I think the bakery in Somerfields would be a better bet. I would however recommend the ‘Jammy Stars/Hearts’ they are really amazing, especially dipped into hot coffee. Mmmmmmmm(and a darn sight cheaper than the ones in Costas… they never notice if you sneek a couple in and pretend you bought it at the counter!). Be warned that this Greggs gets really busy at lunchtime and by the time the rush is over there is only the rubbish Corned beef(what is that by the way?!) pasties left and a couple of soggy sausage rolls.

Avoid this place at any cost during lunch time as the que was running out the door and halfway down the street. when I finally got to the front my cheese pasty was hot and my drink was cold. Lovely!” I would say dont bother with Greggs. Go to the Bread Store on Gloucester Road instead and avoid this mass produced seriously unhealthy food. If you have to buy something, go for the caramel doughnut as it is the best thing they have got going for them.

This Greggs has helped me along my way during many a Gloucester Road wander. The prices are a steal; 59p for sausage rolls compared to 1.25 in a bakery like Parsons for instance. Go to Greggs during the summer to grab a few items for a picnic on the neighbouring St Andrew’s Park or drop by on a miserable day for a warm chicken slice. Towards the end of the day, their product range does decrease and they switch off the hot plate so pasties start to cool down, but for prices like this, who can complain?
