visited Grounded Church Road today with my daughter we had Shredded Pork hash brown and Bubble and squeak
Whilst the waiting staff were friendly and accommodating the food was just awful.
The pork was very sparse and my daughter said it tasted a little off, the presentation was very 'beige'
The bubble and squeek was burnt around the edges and ingredients didnt look freshly prepared really disappointed, and i hate paying for bad food. My daughter was due back at work hence why we didnt complain.
Maybe i will stick to the staples next time burgers and fish finger sandwich

I love popping in here when I have me car washed. It’s a really relaxed place with friendly staff and really good heartley food, honest menu whatever the time of day. Good size and tasty food, which is quick to come, and they serve lush coffee alongside nice local beers. There’s really something for everyone here.

Only ever seem to come to this café when getting my car cleaned next door as i dont live in the area. But its definatly worth the visit without the restriction of having to wait for car. Food always looks smells lush. Only ever had snacks and coffees in here but always really fresh and yummy. Staff are really friendly and the café décor is really relaxing and comfortable. They also have alcahol liscence and noticed they have live music nights occasionally. Next time i would like to visit on early evening for tea as the menu looks great!

If I could add an extra star, I would. I’ve been here for many a brunch, afternoon coffee with a friend, and the live music in the evening. All of them are superb. They have lovely garden seating area out back, plenty of tables inside, and cosy couches up front. I love all of the atmospheric touches, like old pews used as benches and the worn in leather sofas and the local artists featured. The food and drink are the most fantastic of all. Try the toasted goat cheese salad with caramelized onions, or any of their pizzas, or just a nice espresso based drink.

First experience: ordered pizza to take away on Christmas Eve. There were no discounted prices for takeaway(despite the absence of VAT?) so we opted to have it delivered, just two streets away. It arrived a whole hour later, and was about as warm as a pair of recently worn pyjamas. The only reasons we did not bother to complain were(i) it was Christmas Eve so you know, never mind; and(ii) the delivery guy smiled so effusively it would have been horrible to get him into trouble. You know what though? Despite the tepid topping and chewy crust, inside that pizza was a world of great taste trying to get out. So, because of that, we gave it another go: this time to dine in. And on the strength of this more recent experience, wow, I’m a fan. OK, the service could have been a little keener, and maybe the wine a little cooler. But the food: just superb, I can’t exaggerate, it was bursting with vivid flavours, so much so that I could barely avoid letting out sustained murmurs of delight. We chose the ‘Lucky Luka’ pizza and an avocado & bacon salad, to share between two. You know, that salad would have been more than satisfying on its own with just a piece of bread. The bacon was thick and grilled to perfection, the generous bed of rocket was pungent and peppery and the mango dressing livened it up and set off those flavours with a welcome sweetness. The pizza was even better though: rustic, rich, gloriously garlicky and a touch of smokiness. House wine: a better choice than I dared to expect. Even so, the trump card for Grounded — and, I guess, the factor that keeps the regular custom rolling in even on midweek evenings — is the decidedly reasonable bill for the excellent fare. I have paid £40 for lesser meals at Zizzi, Strada et al, and the bill for our two mains and large glasses of wine was £25. We will be coming back for sure.

Love grounded. Its like someones taken a little bit of the cool alternative Gloucester Road type café /bars and dropped it in the middle of Redfield. Some nights have Jazz musicians noodling away in the background while you enjoy your veggie organic feast(they do meat dishes too :)) and you’re left feeling sophisticated in a left wing kinda way.

My girlfriend used to live in St George, which is the only reason that I’m acquainted with this place. It became a favourite of ours for breakfast in the morning — I was particularly fond of the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. It is basically the only respectable eatery in the area –there’s just nothing else around, unless you want to hang out in Miss Millie’s(you don’t). It was apparently set up by the owner of the business across the road(an estate agents, I think) to give his employees somewhere decent to go for lunch. Well good work, sir, you have not only done a service to your staff, but to all inhabitants and frequenters of St George and Redfield. Especially now that they have been granted a license to serve alcohol, this place is a lifesaver if you ever find yourself out at this end of town.

My local eatery and drinkery dishes globally inspired treats including pizza, pasta and tapas for just a few pounds. The classiest(and only) real venue on Church road, consequently I find myself waiting for a table, squeezing past seats or queuing every time I visit — not a good thing. The standard coffee shop décor has a twist(read: trying to be one of the Lounges) wooden floors and ethnic style trinkets and pictures. Attention to detail — a sprig of fresh rocket with pizza, a little extra froth on the cappuccino goes a long way, although I doubt I’d stop here if I didn’t live close by. St George is off the beaten track from the city centre and rather uninspiring in terms of surroundings. Blah!
