I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to visit this place. It dark frontage makes it feel more late night and speakeasy then café, but when you step through the doors it feel delightfully warm and cosy, the red walls are adorned with posters, and there’s free books lined up on shelfs which you can take away. The coffee is delicious and fresh, and the guy who owns it, super friendly. I didn’t get to try any of the food, but what I saw looked delicious — massive baguettes for under £3. I’ll be trying one next time I visit, but am aware that he sells out often so you have to get there early. The only downside for me is that there is no WIFI, as this would be a pretty lovely place to take your laptop and work from — but maybe that the idea, they want people to chat in a corner or read a book rather than be linked to their screens. A fantastic coffee shop on North Street — go visit if you haven’t already

Hennesseys is in a part of town I don’t often visit, but I made a point of coming here after hearing some enthusiastic recommendations. I invited a business colleague, which was perhaps not the best idea, as it was very noisy and hard to talk. It seems popular with mums, which makes for a busy atmosphere(and a little crowded), yet also quite nice. I wouldn’t use Hennesseys for work in future, but rather as a quick stop-off for a piece of cake and a single-shot cappuccino. The look is old-fashioned, with dark wood and lots of old books. The staff are friendly, which is always good. They look like they enjoy working there, and it makes you want to go back. Prices are good, too. I only wish there was a volume control for toddlers.

Great ambience, nice place to read and relax without the normal crèche numbers of small children you seem to get everywhere these days. Lovely sandwiches(but get there early because they go quickly) Try the hot chocolate, it’s amazing!

I can’t believe I only discovered this little gem of a café today! Aiming to get from Asda in Bedminster to the Tobacco Factory in Southville, I cycled along North Street, just happened to glance to my right, and there it was — what is most definitely one of the best cafes in Bristol in a location you just wouldn’t expect such a gem to be. Not only are the coffee and cakes brilliant, but this is a culture lover’s paradise, with books on every available surface and posters of books and films on the walls, including an original version of Tintin«sur la lune» and the French film Delicatessen. If you haven’t already discovered this perfect café, go and find it now. It really is a wonderful little place.

Hennesseys, is one of those places that immediately washes away your worries. As you walk in the door find a spot to sit in and order a coffee, everything is put in perspective. The management have certainly managed to strike a very good balance between cosy and up tight. They shop serves proper coffee and undoubtedly offers a change form the standard run of the mill coffee shops that ow litter our streets. Their sandwiches are delicious don’t miss out.

Bedminster’s not somewhere I tend to visit a lot, but I was here with my friend the other day as she got in at Temple Meads and it’s just round the corner and we came across this really great little coffee shop! Even though I’ve only been here the once, I would definitely recommend the place to other people. It’s a fairly small little place, but I love small coffee shops because it adds to the ambience, and there is actually a fair amount of seating too. When I came it was on a week day lunch time and the place was actually really quite, I’m not sure why, perhaps because of the area, but it was good for us because we got the window seats and did some people watching! We just popped in to grab a light bite for lunch, and everything they had to offer sounded delicious. I had a vegetable panini which was really nice, and my coffee was surprisingly good too! Price wise Hennesseys is fairly standard, think along the lines of Starbucks prices. So many coffee shops put their prices around this mark and you do get good value for your money here, so I’d say it’s worth a visit!

My favourite café in Bristol. The exterior of the café is very misleading, it appears like a dingy pub or a front for one of Bristol’s many«massage» parlours from the outside. Don’t let this deter you, inside it is light, cosy and welcoming. Hennesseys is a refreshing change from the plethora of costas, starbucks and mediocre coffee joints in Bristol. Service is served with a real smile. The chili hot chocolate is my new favourite drinks, good chocolate with a perfect chili kick. All the coffees are excellent. The hazelnut praline cups are moist and mouthwateringly good. I had a sandwich here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I felt like I had been transported to Southern France. Superb fresh crusty baguette with crisp salad and tasty ham. Going anywhere else for a coffee now is never quite as good as Hennesseys. Its usually possible to get a seat although this place is increasingly popular. Not open on Sunday’s sadly, but then its probably just as well, with Sunday papers and an array of tasty goodies, it would become far too regular a hangout.

If you’re looking for a café with a touch more class than Bedminster’s average working man’s joint, Hennessy’s is the place for you. With its wooden floors, maroon coloured walls and luxurious window seats, it’s hard to believe this café is just round the corner from the likes of Catherine’s(St Catherine’s Place) and The International Café. On entering, you are met with a potent smell of coffee and a continental vibe. Books are stacked haphazardly on shelves, and window-side plants add to the café’s wholesome appeal. Drinks and snacks are surprisingly cheap here. And if you’re a cake lover, try the carrot cake — you’ll be in seventh heaven…

It’s a shame that this coffee lounge doesn’t get very busy because it’s a really nice coffee shop. I reckon it’s got the perfect mix of cosy but not stuffy, and modern but not bare and cold. I personally think that so many coffee shops get this wrong so it’s nice to find one that I can really relax in! The best thing about Hennessey’s is the abundance of seats. There is nothing worse than pacing around the place, searching for a seat whist holding your hot coffee and baked good. Another good thing is that it’s cheap, probably better priced than Costa’s and I reckon their cakes and cookies are fresher and taste so much nice.

Just as coffee lounges should be, a relaxed ambiance for all who enter. Great for a coffee and book read, or my personal favourite, a bit of a people watch. I have to confess I only go in when one of the window seats are free, I get myself either a cappuccino or, if I don’t want coffee induced hyperactiverty, I have a simple hot chocolate, both are reasonably priced. For what would seem from the outisde as a reasonable coffee house, Hennessey’s surprises, the shell is not invinting but once inside you are pulled from the, more often than not, drab tail end of North street and given all the time in the worl to enjoy your coffee. Friendly service, good price. Bish bash bosh…

Terracotta-walled ambience, sensible food, aromatic coffees and a bookshelf leaden with thumb-eared novels all within easy reach of your seat, Hennessey’s is a homely oasis lodged between the less-salubrious East Street and the more fashionable North St on the Bedminster/Southville divide. Seldom over-crowded, which is more to do with its location than anything lacking, this perfectly-formed café should get big kudos not only for its award-winning cakes but for setting up stall in what might be deemed a bridgehead move in an up-and-coming neighbourhood. So respect to them — of course once they proven that it works no doubt the larger concerns will come looking — ce qui sera. Until then Hennessy’s holds its own as a local café that likes to keep it local.
