Being different means you are being You I have a design engineers perspective on stuff that is well made and have spent more time than I care to admit being dragged around hi end shops looking at label goods that are superbly put together. If you were to ask me about handbags I would say Mui Mui are tops and Jimmy Choo shoes are works of art but whoa !! the price tag is ridonculous. I took the time before Christmas 2014 to do a bit of research to try and find something a bit different for those on my Christmas list and chanced upon Katcha Bilek. My work was going to take me very close to Katcha’s design studio so I contacted her and asked if I could call in and take a closer look and, bless her cotton sox, she said Yes and we agreed I could drop by on Dec 22nd :) Her workshop is one of many eco-friendly businesses based at Hamilton House in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol and whilst I was there I grabbed a quick bite to eat at The Canteen with it’s live music and Banksy murals before meeting up with Katcha and heading on to the workshop she runs. I was knocked out by what I found, unique, urban and eco smart gear for all. Take a very close look and you will see that everything is made from recycled rubber and even car seat belts making it durable and weatherproof, result !! Understanding that most people desire the label stuff I can honestly say that for a fraction of the price you can own a top notch, handmade item that will make you stand out from the crowd as an individual with smarts and vision and which will blow the label ho’s minds with envy. I bought belts, wallets, backpacks, handbags & collars and my Christmas list was done and everyone who received has had nothing but admiring glances and pos’ feedback. Go on, do your bit and recycle it. #doyourownthing
