There was one dj playing this thursday night, he was very good. Tried to get hold of his name but couldn’t

I don’t want to sound so negative from the outset, but I seriously do question why people go to this club, situated on Clifton Triangle. Rarely do I have so few positive things to mention about a venue but Lizard Lounge just has nothing going for it other than its staunch student following. Popular with students due to the price and location, Lizards Lounge hosts’ nights for UWE and Bristol Uni students throughout the week. I did come here a couple of times in my first year but after that the appeal was gone — I doubt there is anyone over the age of 21 in here most nights of the week. As for anyone that isn’t a fresher, what are you doing? If you can’t bear to tear yourself away from the Triangle there are far nicer clubs you could frequent, Po Na Na, Embargos and The Park to name but a few.

My first one star review is reserved for a truly horrendous place. I am easily pleased: I like good music, a moderate to good choice of drinks, I don’t even care what a place looks like, I don’t usually even mind if the staff are nice to me, so hopefully you’ll know when I say I dislike a place there is a pretty good reason why. I have nothing against people who choose to project the image that they(their parents) have lots of money, even when they don’t, or that they think having money is the most important thing in the world. I don’t mind peroxide blondes who are too posh to wash and don’t know their arse from their elbow, and have a very suspicious tan considering it’s the middle of November(?). I don’t mind guys being so impressed by themselves for playing rugby that they look forward to taking their shirts off and trying to fight you. Oh wait… yes I do. This ‘club’ epitomises everything I hate about the bar industry in Bristol. It is not acceptable to take people’s money and offer them this experience in return. The music is literally so bad, don’t be surprised if you find yourself trying to dance to Agadoo. The bar serves some strange brand of watery vodka I have never heard of and men in the men’s toilet urinate in the sink because they can’t be bothered to queue for a urinal. The urinals also get blocked so you are wading in the over flow. Don’t forget you paid for this privilege. A close friend of mine actually watched a girl vomit on the floor and continue to kiss the guy she was dry humping against a wall. It is a truly soulless experience. If you hate music, and culture, hate yourself and literally expect nothing from your night out, this is the place for you. You see I don’t know how much of this is the fault of the Lizard Lounge itself. You see all they’ve done is open some grotty looking club(think gypsy wedding/social club) and sell dirt cheap vodka(except at weekends) and play terrible music but yet they seem to make money and attract patrons. So who are the fools. But the lizard lounge does service a purpose; it keeps a good number of people away from the better places in town.

Lizard Lounge is a trendy underground nightclub located at the top of Park Street on the Triangle. Generally speaking a queue develops outside the club from about ten o’clock onwards on most nights — although this is not always the case — but it can be a good thing to get here early if you are eager not to wait for your entry! The entrance is underground, and you go down a flight of stairs to reach the door man — who will stamp you and charge around £5 for entry on most nights. It’s a fairly dark club, but I find that this adds to the atmosphere, and the size is also quite small — so great if you are one of those people who tends to lose everyone on a night out, because it is easy to find people here! The club consists of two main rooms — one is the dance floor with the DJ set, and a bar at either end with a few seats, and the other rooms consists of a bar and a seating area — so there’s places to both dance and socialize! The club is very popular with students and holds a weekly student night for students from Bristol University and an alternate one for students from UWE. On Friday and Saturday nights the club is open to the locals and can also get very busy! The typical music played here is chart music, with a few cheesy tunes for the very end of the night when the club shuts at 3am. Lizard Lounge is a fun little club, and if you are in the mood to party then it guarantees a good night!

A staple venue for students, Lizard Lounge is certainly the place to be seen on Whiteladies. If the bouncers haven’t thrown you out or punched your face in before you get through the entrance, then you will probably have a good night out. The drinks are cheap and the music is good fun — the majority of students on the dancefloor have happy, smiley faces which is a good sign that they are having fun. The dancefloor is very small which means you may get elbowed a few times, so it’s best to get in before ten o clock.

Lounge is a place that, despite a multitude of idiosyncrasies, draws in a full house night after night. If you know your London clubs, the best way to describe it would be a comparison with Chelsea’s 151. Both are in dingy basements, both share a retro cheese/rnb/absolute shite music policy and both have an It Box… you know one of those machines with various pay to play quiz games like who wants to be a millionaire and bullseye. The sad fact is that I often see people using the It Box on nights out which should tell you that Lounge is not for everyone. To enjoy Lounge, buy a pitcher of vodka red bull for under eight quid and join in with the sports lovers by taking your top of and flinging it round your head while the baywatch theme tune plays out of the terrible speakers.

‘Lounge’ is a pillar of Bristol’s nightlife. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had been going longer than any other club in Bristol. The blue sign above the door on park street is home to one of Bristol’s safest bets, as long as you are willing to embrace lounge then you will love it. The cheesy music and sticky floor is a banker that attracts everyone from students to professional rugby and football players and I am pretty sure most of them would claim to have a friend that knows Mr Lounge.

Ahhh Lizard Lounge… I have some fond memories(and some not so fond ones!!) of this place. It is a beacon for students in their first year of university in Bristol, purely for the dead cheap alcohol and the cheesy music. Its small and cramped but I do remember having some really fun nights here so I can’t knock it too much. Its a shame that its gone out of a business a little bit since nearby Bunker has opened which has pretty much taken all the students. On the downside, if you are above the age of 19 then avoid like the plague, you will HATE it! Its full of hyped up freshers who scream ‘DUUUUDE’ a lot.

The Lizzard Lounge is primarily geared towards students and during the week it has a NUS only policy, so if you’re out in the week, but you’re not a student, then I wouldn’t even attempt to try and enter as you’ll be turned away. If you are a student(as I myself once was) then this place is a safe bet as the music is your typical student fare, with an eclectic mix of indie pop and retro cheese. The drinks are also reduced during the week so even if you don’t like the music and simply want to get wasted, you couldn’t be in a better place on a week night. At the weekends it has a different vibe as it opens itself up to the rest of us non tax dodging people. Since I left uni a few years ago and was denied access during the week, I’ve been once at the weekend and found it to be a little too cramped(not the biggest) and there were a few too many sad old desperate types salivating over the younger girls.

This place is terrible. It’s up on the Clifton Triangle in a basement and very much aimed at students. It’s in a basement and tiny, one of those awful cheesy places that puts mirrors on the walls to try and make it look bigger and better than it is. It’s not. It’s small. And it’s shit. For some reason, though, there’s always a big queue outside in the evenings, I imagine full of student rugby club members limbering up for a night of vomiting over the hockey team. They’re welcome to it.

Bristol University is infamous for having a quite posh student body. Not sure how true this is but it certainly seems the case when you go to Lizard Lounge. Lots of Jack Wills on display and many refined accents to be heard. Not quite sure why the great and the good of Bristol’s students choose this place as their hang out. Yes, it is in desirable Clifton, but its small, crowded and just not that nice. You can queue up and spend lots of money at a lot better places just a stones throw away. You may well see a few bottles of champagne being opened here and probably a fair few cocktails. It’s all quite rah, to use a Bristol phrase, and very cheesy. Most definitely not my cup of tea, but there’s certainly a type that likes it. Go to Lizard Lounge to spend some time amongst Bristol well spoken students and sip some bubbly in a bit of a hole of a setting.

Lizard Lounge is a great club to be at during week nights for students. Entry as well as drinks are cheap(pitchers of mixers and cocktails are recommended!). Although it is a relatively small club compared to other clubs in bristol, it is definitely an experience one must encounter when in Bristol. Normally playing cheesy chart music(with the DJ actually play your song requests too!!), the dance floor becomes packed with everyone having a good time. Weekends is a different vibe than students nights, but again, it is a fun place to be!

Small club but they play a nice range of music. It gets really crowded with students on the weekends. Drinks are cheap and place is lively and packed. I found it abit too crowded and all I did was squeeze around trying to dance, not very fun for a night out.

A relatively small club with a small dance floor that can get very packed, but this adds to the atmosphere. There’s a very changeable playlist that switches between RnB and complete cheese. You can go there any night and there will be something good on. Cheap entry and very student friendly, the drinks are quite a good price as well.

I have only been to the Lizard Lounge once but I found it to be a dingy little club with more than its fair share of sleazy men!

The Lizard lounge is a small club at the top of Park Street. During the week this club attracts a student crowd and will often reject entry to non-students. It can often fill up just after 10 on these students night because of the cheap drink offers and reduced entry. Once inside there is 3 separate bars and a small dance floor that can get very busy at its peak. A friendly crowd will normally be found and fun is usually had by all.
