No.4 Clifton Village

The restaurant only had two tables occupied on a Saturday night, which should have been an indicator. We chose a soufflé as starter that turned out to be a pan-fried potato risotto. My wife took one bite and left it, I took several spoonful’s and gave up. We chose the Guinea fowl as a main. It was obvious that it was pre cooked and reheated. It was dry and solid. We had one bite each and left it. We paid for the wine, beer and chips (which were ok). We were then told it was chef’s night off (on a Saturday night?). The only thing pleasant was the waitress, who was extremely apologetic and charming.

I can only assume their award-winning accolades were pre pandemic with different chefs in situ?

I was a little worried when a friend suggested we dined here last week, it looked very nice; too nice! I didn’t want to look a cheap skate but I was hoping for a relatively standard priced meal!
I was totally blown over, despite having an award wining menu, you could get two courses for £12.99 or three for £15.99 — even Pizza Express will struggle to beat that! And of course, the food was far superior.
Highly recommend for an affordable treat.

This is a modern restaurant with a very laid back and friendly atmosphere, serving superbly cooked and presented British Cuisine.
Set in an old Georgian building, the designers of the restaurant have kept a lot of the original features, which helps give the place a distinct character and is more inviting than some other modern restaurants that have gone overboard with the chic clean lines and trendy lighting.
The bar area is very inviting and cozy with a homestyle fire place and wonderful views of the secluded garden area. You can take a light meal in here should you wish, but this is more of a special occasion, evening restaurant and it’s here that No. 4 really shines. Wonderful food and a wonderful setting.
