A very chic and upmarket stretch of the Cabot Circus shopping district, Quakers Friars is the place to come for pricey gifts, a glass of fine wine at Carluccio’s beside the fountains, and a reminder of the luxurious things in life. Harvey Nichols stands proudly on one end, and the shops cascade in varying degrees of poshness down towards Broadmead where, abruptly, the tone shifts and you’re back in Poundland territory. The White Company, Molton Brown, Bloomsbury & Co(a gift shop) … It’s all stylish, gorgeous, and at the higher end of high street shopping. Even if you’re not here to buy anything, go and have a coffee at Carluccio’s on a sunny day, sit outside on the terrace under one of their royal blue umbrellas, and enjoy watching people shopping, and listen to the tills ringing.

We all know about Cabot Circus don’t we, that great big monstrosity of a building where everyone seems to wanna rush about and where the stair & lift system can be quite an annoying pain in the Gluteus Maximus at times! Well all the ‘streets’ of this development have their own individual names and one of these just so happens to be Quakers Friars — i’m not sure it has a link to the actual Quakers or not, but i’m sure a quick look on the old internet shall more than enlighten us on it. Quakers Friars resides opposite the main Cabot Circus complex and is not placed under a huge canopy, which comes as a light relief if you’ve just spent a fair portion of your time in the centre. The shops are more of the ‘higher’ variety — pricier products. I enjoy floating down here after a purse painful spree around Broadmead and the Circus, it really is like a light relief because of it’s surprisingly quiet atmosphere.

Quakers Friars is a branch off Cabot Circus. It is open air and is very modern and new. I do warn you, this section of shopping is a bit more expensive then the rest of Cabot Circus, the strech of shops is dedicated more to your Fred Perry, Fat Face, Lacoste and such like, so if you do a have bit of cash to spend I think this will be your main visiting point. I do like to wander down here and pretend I have the funds to go in and buy everything instore, I can but dream!
