The veggie burger is a crime to humanity. We’d heard such positive reviews of this place on Unilocal but we were so gutted to waste money on frozen food that’d been reheated. They served me a flipping Birdseye burger and frozen chips. Left depressed. Milkshakes were delicious so they get one star. Get yourselves together, guys.

Not as good as some of the reviews on Google+ and on here were making out. Milkshakes were decent and so was the toast — out of this world in fact, but the remainder of the breakfast was standard fare. Worth a trip but only if there’s nothing top notch nearby.

American diner with a difference, a fantastic atmosphere and a place that seems to always be busy. I like the position of the kitchen which is central and the stools that sit along the bar. The milkshakes are amazing. I can not recommend them enough, I enjoyed the Oreo one that much I had two ! I really like the way the shakes are served in a chilled shaker. The menu is great, offers full breakfast, pancakes to burgers. I had the breakfast which was good, cooked well and served in good time. The staff were friendly and cheerful which is always nice when eating out. Overall I would highly recommend giving Rocotillos a visit even if just for a milk shake !

This is the kind of place I like to have my breakfast. Simple and delicious. Love their all day breakfast menu and their MILKSHAKES are really really good. The atmosphere is like an American diner which I love! It is a real good place to fill your tummy in the morning.

I don’t quite understand why people enthuse about these places as much as they do — the food is at best passable, and the kind of thing that should only be considered when in the midst of a gigantic hangover. The only possible attraction is the American Diner feel, which shouldn’t really push nostalgia buttons for anyone who wasn’t born in the 1940s or was a cast member of Happy Days. Faux-American Diner combined with British minimum-waged surliness does not an immediate classic make. However Rocotillos has THEMILKSHAKES. OMG. Massive steel buckets of artery-clogging joy. HAVEONE. (Unless you’re a huge fan of lipid-catalysed bloatyness you probably won’t want food as well as a milkshake anyway)

This is a great 1950s American diner style restaurant /café on the triangle. Complete with Duke Box and red leather seating booths. The menu is suitably 1950s too, with proper milk shakes and fat burgers. The milk shakes are what Rocotillos is all about; huge portions, you not only get the large moulded glass full and you get what is left in the metal shaker too, really thick and creamy, just as milk shake should be. I also recommend the nachos, very satisfying. I had breakfast there recently, if you ever get a craving for big fluffy pancakes and maple syrup this is the place to come! And the breakfast portions match that of the milk shakes — the full English they offer is huge, lots of bacon and sausages; the perfect hang over cure. For a fun meal with suitably cheery and good service in a different setting Rocotillos is the place to go.

Rocotillos became quite a usual haunt for me and my boyfriend every time someone came to visit us in Bristol. ‘OMG, you have to try the milkshakes there!!’ was one of the phrases I’m sure I’ve said so many times, and will still happily say. They ARE amazing, and I love it that you get all the leftovers in the cup they’re mixed in, which gives you two whole glasses full. This is obviously an American diner, which is something you will immediately notice, due to the styling of this place. They have burgers, fries, curly fries(the best) and pancakes; all typical American fare. Their breakfasts actually have been awarded Readers Choice best breakfast, by The Guardian, which I think is good, but this definitely isn’t the best they have to offer. I’d recommend coming here for that spot-on burger and yummylicious milkshake.

Ben & Jerrys Phish Food milkshakes. There, I said it. To be honest I think the deliciously thick and creamy milkshakes are the foundation of this 50s style American diner, particularly as the cost of food here is a little priecy. Served in a tall glass with the remainder in the metal shaker it was made in, these milkshakes are to die for but they are not the only treat should you decide to step into this turquoise, fried food paradise. Be warned: the diet should go out the window and to the back of your mind when you enter this place because all the good stuff is either fried or has the word ‘cream’ in it. And that is certainly no bad thing in my opinion! As mentioned, the main meals themselves can be quite pricey for a lunch time treat so I prefer to stick to a milkshake and a couple of side orders for sharing, such as the chunky spiced wedges and larger than life onion rings. Rocotillos is also open till 11pm over the weekend which is great if you need a substantial stomach lining before hitting the clubs on the Triangle.

Although its breakfasts have won many an award, I’m not sure I’m convinced. Filling and tasty enough they may be, but nothing mind-blowing. What really gets my salivary glands going however are the milkshakes. In an unusual variety of flavours, the milkshakes are creamy, fatty, delicious. The word sinful is a cliché I’ve never really approved of when applied to food(too much female-targeted chocolate bar publicity has spoiled it for me) but for once I’m inclined to make an exception. These milkshakes really are gloriously sinful. Not only are they packed full of ice cream and chocolate and everything good in life, they’re also enormous and the pot can usually fill three glasses. There’s an American diner feel to the joint and oand sometimes the diner can take its greasy spoon authenticity a little too far(dirt is just dirt no matter how you look at it). Some standard US fare is asking to be sampled on the menu but if I were you, I’d give the food a miss and go straight for bullseye with a crunchie bar milkshake.

I am sure you have been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day so you should make sure you have it every day. That piece of advice is more of a maxim to me I swear by it which is why I get so excited when I come across somewhere that claims to lay on a good breakfast. Roccotillos set my stomach into somersault when I was told it served the best breakfast in town. Although when I got there and ordered my coffee milkshake and fry up I was let down by the quality of everything in front of me, and to add insult to injury they gave me the wrong order. My view of the place was sealed when I got the bill, which would have been better associated to somewhere that can serve a proper breakfast.

Averagely good food, certainly not the best I’ve eaten but tasty non the less. The décor sets it apart from the competition. Quick service and good location. Be careful when you go as it is fairly small and a favourite with a lot of people.

They say you should eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper,(who knows who ‘they’ are) which is lucky because I know the very place to eat breakfast like a king. Roccotillos just off Clifton Triangle always amazes me that it’s not packed to the rafters at breakfast time because it’s just so damn good. They’ll give you a hearty fried breakfast which has come a long way from the greasy spoon variety. You can go for anything from a humble bacon sandwich, to the full English. I tend to opt for the Full Veggie — two fried eggs, homemade hash browns, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast dripping with salted butter. I’m always a bit disappointed by their coffees — but I definitely recommend one of their milkshakes(my favourite being the Oreo flavour.) It’s a bit of a walk from the city centre, but once you’ve walked up Park Street you’ll have earned your tasty treat!

I’m planning a tour of Skins highlights: this is one of the points of interest. Apart from its small claim to fame, Rocotillo’s is an excellent American themed diner situated on the triangle at the top of Park Street. American is the main word here — expect Burgers, mega milkshakes and probably the best chips you’ll find in the centre of Bristol. It’s frequented by the young and beautiful, mostly with a bit too much money to spend, and as the prices aren’t cheap in here. But the food quality is really good, so you pay for what you get. It’s a very trendy place to be, but lacks any kind of sizeable seating area, so expect to take your food as a take out or else be prepared to stand up.

Ben and Jerry’s Milkshakes?! Enough said. That aside, Rocotillos is a great little eatery at the top of Park Street, and not chainy like the rest of the Nandos/Gormet Burger/Café Rouge type establishments. A perfect place to take a visiting friend after missioning up Park Street, but don’t expect to have a pick of seats during lunch times. Also, for all those skins fans out there(it’s cool, honest), this is Carrie’s favourite hang out, and where she meets Sid on a rainy night.(Unfortunately Rocotillos in real life is only a daytime place.)

Rocotillo’s is a very cool, very trendy American themed diner aimed at hip young professionals and students with too much money. I used to go into it quite a lot when I was at University, but I probably would have gone in more often and used it more as a hang out, if it was so darn expensive. What you get here is great burgers and awesome thick shakes done in the American way. And by that I mean very large and very filling. The food is clean and lacks that horrible greasy feel you get from McDonalds burgers and the fries taste crisp, light and delicious. The place itself is very small so seating can be an issue a lot of the time, but if you really want a good burger and fries and don’t mind forking out that little bit extra, I highly recommend Rocotillo’s.

This is an American diner style café/restaurant with cheesy music and high stalls to perch on. It’s all about the milkshakes here. Oversized and creamy, they’re topped with a healthy dollop of ice cream. Sweet and a bit sickly, skip lunch and have these on a hot afternoon. From the cherry on the top to the extra long spoons, they’ve made the effort to give an all-american experience. I really like this — it’s nice to go somewhere that feels vaguely glamerous when in boring old Bristol. I should mention that they do breakfasts as well. They have sky TV on all the time in the corner for some reason, which I don’t really want to be watching when I’m drinking my milkshake. Apart from that I haven’t got any complaints. A welcome dash of 50s Americana in Bristol.

Fun American diner, if you fancy having a shake and a burger this is a cool place to go. They do nice milkshakes and you can customize your burger the way you like it. The music video of uptown girl comes to mind if you are trying to picture the décor.

While a little more costly than the average diner, you certainly get what you pay for. The milkshakes are fantastic, and the breakfast options are great(They do pancakes!) If only to treat your pals, loved ones or family to an awesome milkshake whilst heading to Clifton Village, Rocatillo’s is definitely worth a look — in.
