St. George Park

Another fantastic Bristol park. You are really spoilt for choice in East Bristol!
This is a lovely large park in St George at the top of Church Road. There is a car park but it’s often busy so I tend to park on residential streets on the other side where there is always loads of space.
Next to the car park is a large skate park, I’m no skater so couldn’t tell you if it was any good but it’s always busy so that’s a good sign!
There is a large duck pond, playground, tennis courts, bowling club and I think you can fish too! What more could you want!
They also hold a brilliant free music festival every year called Redfest, if you’ve not been them check it out

Really nice really big park.
Loads of things to do there (large pond, skate park, tennis courts) or just enjoy a walk!
It also hosts a number of activities throughout the year. I’ve attended the BMX and skate jam, and I particularly liked the Brief Encounters film festvial outdoor cinema of short films.

This is a green lung in a not-​so-​smart area of Bristol, spacious enough to let you imagine you’re a long way away from the concrete and traffic of Church Road.
Stepping through the grand old Victorian gates, you enter a different world, with an attractive avenue of trees bordered by plenty of grassy open space.
It’s popular with dog walkers, as there’s loads of room to run off lead, and I sometimes drive over to this park to take my hound for a walk so that she can get to socialise with other four legged friends.
It’s equally popular amongst families with children as there’s a cute duck pond, a skate and BMX park, an enclosed children’s playground away from the dogs, and some tennis courts. Even on sunny days when people lounge about on the grass it rarely feels overcrowded, and there are plenty of trees to grab some shade.

It’s great to find Park’s of this size very near to City centre’s. Especially considering the area it is in. As it is not in the best area of Bristol it does give young people an area to not only play a bit of football, bit there is also a skate park.
For young families as well there are a couple of playgrounds so you can keep your little angles (brats!) entertained for a few hours as you catch a quick restbite on a bench.
You don’t hear much traffic when you are in the park which is nice, and it is great to see everyone treats it with repect.

This is a great family park as something for all ages in a lovely green and large park. Large fields for the dogs, big pond with loads of ducks and great for fishing, small play area for the kids which has fence around which keeps them in and dogs out, skate /​bike ramps, tennis courts and the all important ice cream van! all in all this park offers everything a park possibly could and it does i well.

St. George Park isn’t located in the most desirable part of Bristol, but once you’re lounging in the grass on a sunny day, you really wouldn’t know it. It’s a great place for families, couples, dog walkers and, well, everybody really. There’s a pond on one side, a skate park on the other and, in the centre, there’s a kid’s playground and even some tennis courts! There’s plenty of grassy areas, so when summer hits, you don’t have to wrestle it out with the locals for a coveted barbeque spot. There are also loads of shady options for those who aren’t such avid sun-​lovers, as the park is littered with trees. As a side note, check out the graffiti on the some of the skate ramps, as a few of the big names in Bristol often come here to do their thing, so it’s definitely worth a look.

How lucky are we to have a handful of expansive and beautiful Victorian parks dotted around the city? I didn’t even know about this one and it’s just around the corner from me really.
So, I wrapped up warm and stepped through the impressive (and original) wrought iron gates on Church road. It was rather like stepping from the bustle of the modern city with all its traffic and noise into a tranquil Victorian landscape. An avenue of trees, lawns on which to give the dog a good run and a large duckpond/​small lake (I can’t quite decide which it is — man made whichever!). That’s about it, but a refreshing change from walking on concrete.
The gates are is open 24 hours (although I wouldn’t recommend using it as a cut through to anywhere late at night). There’s also a car park nearby. Recent developments to the greenery is that the park is part of the ‘TreeBristol project’ and 70 new trees were recently planted by people from the local community. Yay!
