Taste of India is one of the restaurants on my list that I resort to when I am too lazy to cook at home, after a long hard day. There are probably Indian restaurants nearer to where I live, but I’ve always found myself coming back to this one. The place feels like Aladdin’s cave, you even have to walk down a small flight of steps to enter the restaurant; to which you come into about ten tables, an open kitchen, and colourful throws as wall hangings and a bright back lighted framed picture of a waterfall who’s water does look like it’s falling. I like the fact that you can hear and see them preparing your food right after you order it. They arrive at your table quite quickly, and curries are usually plated up in mini wok’s. I would recommend trying their lamb dhansak, king prawn curry, tandoori chicken, and as for rice, the mushroom rice is a winner. They also do take out, which when I’ve brought home, always seen a complimentary poppadom. A great curry house to try if you haven’t yet — good for dates, family, work mates, normal mates, and anytime you crave a good curry, really!

Taste of India is a funny little restaurant, you go down some steps into a galley like restaurant. I was very excited when I first came here as it is kitch-o-rama, complete with hilarious light up moving waterfall pictures. From my experience of Indian restaurants in London, the tackier the restaurant, the tastier the food. I thought the food here was exceptionally good at reasonable prices. I was gutted when I discovered they don’t do home delivery(take-away only). I haven’t however been back here in a while since a taxi driver told me they had some problems with health and safety due to the hygiene of the restaurant. Whether that was just a taxi driver trying to put me off because his friend has a far superior Indian restaurant I don’t actually know so don’t listen to rumors, check it out for yourself.
