A massive establishment… A big place… A huge bar… A large pub… Descriptions of this place from me will always be of it’s physical appearence as I have nothing much to say of it’s quality… it is infact, nothing very special, better than some weathspoons you have been to, the live music and DJ sets help on that side. But then lacking that bizzare charm that other weatherspoons seem to have, where you can really feel it is a wonderful large pub. The simple fact I am comparing it to Spoonies shows that the bush is nothing special, good for sports fans, which I am(but I would much prefer to go to a smaller pub) and fairly good on price.

This is pretty much exclusively a sports pub, limiting its market somewhat. My first(and last) visit to The Bush was marked by a sense of alienation brought about by the multitude of screens placed throughout the building. I can honestly say I’ve never known a pub to possess so many TVs. Despite its grand, imposing size, the place is rarely busy, although I’ve heard it does well during big sports matches(surprise surprise.) Serving a selection of bog standard pub food and drinks, all at reasonable prices, I’m afraid to say you’d be foolish to expect anything above mediocrity at The Bush.

The fact that this pub is pretty much right on my doorstep but I still very rarely go probably says it all. Basically, it’s a bit of a sports pub, with loads of TVs(including a big screen) all wired up to Sky, a couple of pool tables, and ‘Chicago Town pizzas’(yes, the frozen ones you can buy from a supermarket!) proudly displayed on the menu. In fairness, they’ve made a bit of an effort recently — there’s a happy hour every day with most pints at £2.50 and the interior’s been spruced up — but it’s still only the kind of place I’d go if the big match was kicking off in two minutes and I’d no time to scarper somewhere better.
