The pub is great, well looked after locally sourced Ale. Happen to be in on a Friday, DJ playing chilled out house. PERECT!

I’ve heard mixed reviews of the the Christmas Steps pub, on Unilocal and word of mouth. I went with around 20 mates last night for some Christmas drinks and had a great night in there, and I’ll definitely be back. What used to be called Three Sugar Loaves, has now been taken over by the guys that run Crack Magazine(it’s all about magazine, you’ll be pleased to hear) so it already had great credentials, in my eyes; I am a big fan of the magazine. What I like about it, is that it has several sections and it set over a couple of levels; it’s really quirky. The atmosphere was great and you really felt it as soon as you walked in. The music was pumping with some great disco/house tunes and it was buzzing inside and out. Drinks wise you’ll find the normal draught and top shelf options as most pubs, but that’s exactly what this place is, a proper pub right in the centre of town. They do BBQ’s in the summer which I missed this year, but I’ll definitely be checking it out next summer.

Good selection of local draft beers and bar snacks — haven’t eaten from the menu here yet

I hate giving yellow stars BUT in this situation its all i can give. Went here today for lunch with work folk to celebrate something as we work round the corner and always support the local shops/pubs. 8 of us went, they offer table service and we ordered drinks. One was incorrect but easily fixable, no harm no foul. 6 of us ordered the burger and 2 ordered sandwich’s… and so our ordeal begins. After 10 minutes the chap told us it would be a 40 minute wait as there is only one guy in the kitchen(didnt think to tell us that a) before we ordered food and sat there for a while or B) before we were half way through our drinks and could’ve gone elsewhere. 50 minutes later our burgers came(cold) 10 minutes later the sandwiches came– an hour for a sandwich?!! One sandwich had no salad as advertised but instead a random sausage roll?!! And one of our poor lads got nothing at all!!! Literally zilch. They offered to cook him something else but how long do we have to wait for food, another hour perhaps? Add to this 3 bar staff standing behind the bar not doing much– could’ve helped the poor chef, which i’m guessing they knew there was only one of before we came in. So needless to say this all ruined our celebration, our lunch and our moral. Another table behind us were also having the same experience and they’d even PREORDERED before they arrived. Absolute joke, highly disappointed. i was excited to see what the 3 sugar loaves had turned into and the food smelled great. What we did eat(though cold) was delicious but sadly was way beyond the line. One of the staff was really apologetic but sorry dude, to many foul ups the staff just didnt give a rats arse and it totally showed. The other staff were asking us questions as to the where abouts of her colleagues like we weren’t customers… hello?! Worst pub experience ever. worst customer service ever.
