Been here a few times in the past so stopped off after watching the mighty Northern Ireland take on Germany after work. Had to wait a while for drinks but the food is always so instant and I got my usual chicken katsu curry sumo bowl which was great but batter slightly on the top cooked side. Still ate the heap and still really nice! Will be back!

If you’re looking for atmosphere and authentic… Well actually this is what Japan’s fast food is trending toward, no? Healthy food ready to eat displayed on a conveyer belt without the«non value-added» waiter.(The ultimate Lean Six Sigma, Toyota/Motorola method of increasing outputs and customer turnover?). The concept is great; it allows the customer to eat as much as they want«as they go,» eliminating the guesswork in the beginning or having to reorder with a massive pause between the courses. The sushi is still fresh, it won’t break the bank(you see a «waiter» in this place as much as you do in Nobu) and it was clean. Overall good value and quick turnover. It’s better than standard fish and chips.

This is my favourite restruarant in Bristol. I’ve only been eating sushi for about 3 years and nothing comes close to YO! Sushi. I love their tempura batter vegetables and their crispy prawn eso. We bought the YO! Sushi book and when we have the time my husband and I make sushi together from the recipes. The service is always excellent and you can watch the chefs make the dishes. Awesome! Oh and blue plate Mondays save you money and you can try more dishes without the worry of spending as much money.

As Yo Sushi goes this is to their usual standard, which is to say it’s never going to be the best Sushi money can buy but would 99% of us ever know the difference. What matters is we know it will be a pleasent experience and the staff here seem helpful if you’ve not been before. When we were there it was early evening mid-week and it was very busy, which was a good sign. X = You’ve gotta be kidding me XX = trying but not reaching the standard expected or advertised XXX = achieving the standards expected/advertised however high that might be XXXX = they’re doing something special here, above expected standards of service XXXXX = WOW! you gotta go here!

Not the best Yo! Sushi I have been to but still pretty good. There wasn’t as much choice on the conveyer belt but you can order pretty much anything from the menu and because it is small dishes they are pretty quick(although we did go when it wasn’t that busy). If it is your first time than it can be confusing. There are water taps at the table which is 3X filtered water, unlimited for £1 a glass. You can grab whatever you like from the belt or order some food(most of the hot stuff you need to order). There is also a fair selection of vegetarian options, not loads but enough for a couple of meals :) Usually about one or two per section on the menu anyway. I recommend the pumpkin croquettes and yaki soba, yums :)

Despite it being a chain, there are so few good sushi restaurants in Bristol that I have ended up eating at Yo! Sushi many times since it opened. I always go away from there feeling a little bit cheated, though. Yes, sushi everywhere is pretty expensive — but it’s less the price and more the overall experience that bothers me. It’s nearly always busy in there, and ought to have a great atmosphere — but this is dampened by the fact that most of the staff emit an air of indifference(sometimes verging on rudeness). The other main problem I have with Cabot’s Yo! Sushi is the lack of cleanliness. If you sit at the conveyor belt eating bar, there are holes in which to place the soy sauce, wasabi paste and so on, and these are often enough to put you off eating there. In some ways they’re not very practical because they’re probably quite tricky to clean — but on the other hand it just seems like the staff don’t take enough care over making sure each place is clean before they seat the next customers. It’s a shame because I was so excited when Yo! Sushi arrived in town, but now whenever I fancy sushi I find myself heading over to Bath, to the fantastic(and independent) Yen Sushi, where the food is worth every penny and the staff are fantastically friendly.

Yo is overpriced, unclean and most worryingly for a sushi restaurant the food is of an extremely low quality. I thought my bill was a bit steep considering I used a voucher, and then I realised I had been charged two pounds for tap water… Tap water for two pounds… A glass of tap water costs two pounds. No matter how many times you say it or think about the fact that it is filtered(at an estimated cost of 50p/1000litres) it is enough to make you leave Yo feeling angry. The manager in the Cabot Circus failed to see that it is basically a con when I asked why. If I hadn’t used my voucher I’d have spent £34…oh and did I mention that tap water costs two pounds?

Since starting a love affair with sushi last year, not literally — that would be weird, I have come to think of myself as something of a connoisseur of raw fish. While Yo! Sushi wouldn’t normally be the place I would go on a date this branch does tickle my taste buds and the large booths make it a great place to meet up with friends. The prices are a little on the expensive side and it is easy to get carried away with the amount of dishes you pluck from the conveyor belt. But the colour coding and price lists are everywhere so you know how much you’re spending. The last time I was in here there were a few dishes missing from the menu but we had come at a busy time which would explain things. Seeing the food being prepared freshly in front of you is always fun although depending on where you sit along the bar you have to wait for ever for your dish of choice to make it’s way round to you. Look on the website for promotional offers and discounts — students can usually do quite well if you print off a discount form in advance.

I don’t like Yo Sushi. I like this one. They always have the dishes that I want in circulation on the conveyor, which is never normally the case. It is always clean which is a nice change because I normally end up putting my elbow in food left over from the person who was at the table before me. And best of all the employees don’t make you feel like you are impeding their ability to look frantic. Yo Sushi, although a little expensive, has sullied itself as a chain by stretching its restaurants to capacity. However the Yo Sushi at Cabot Circus inspires my faith in the conveyor belt restaurants again. I recommend more Yo’s take a leaf out of this restaurants book.

Having loved sushi for years my Yo! Sushi loving friend was completely amazed I’d never visited this restaurant before. Her face lit up as she talked about the conveyer belt of plates that go whirling past the tables, and the array of tiny dishes you have to choose from. As I am also a lover of conveyer belts — how could I resist. A perfectly nice place to go for lunch — very bright and shiny, good if you’re looking for a bit of a visual pick-me-up. The sushi, although a bit on the bland side, is made in front of you which if a fun sight. The prices are fair for such freshly made produce, and the service is quick and friendly. For a touch of the orient in Cabots Circus, I’d prefer to go to the equally priced Tampopo. A fun place to go — great for sushi virgins, but lacking an authentic sushi atmosphere.

Okay, there’s no getting around it or trying to look for positives, this place is a load of rubbish. I only went in here because I was with some idiot who hadn’t tried sushi before and had heard this place was good. I will never listen to that person again. The sushi is tasteless and horrible the service was lack lustre and virtually non existent and the prices were quite ridiculous considering there wasn’t a raw fish in sight. The other major malfunction is the choice of food in circulation, I saw the same things over and over again. God only know how long they had been there and I wasn’t too keen on finding out.

As the days grow darker and the temperature drops, sushi may not be an obvious choice for a post-shopping sesh lunch. But the new Kill Chill(Volume 1) menu aims to change all that, with warming soups, salads and entrees to heat the coldest of Christmas hearts. The restaurant was busy on this Wednesday afternoon but luckily we managed to get a booth — seating by the conveyor belt, watching all the food go round, can quickly tot up your bill! From the new menu, we started with garlic pepper endame beans, which were delicious, albeit a little fiddly to tackle with chopsticks. Next, it was Mushroom Kara Age, also from the new menu and a fantastic vegetarian entrée — the mixed mushrooms were marinated in soy and mirin then deep fried for extra crunch. The batter was filling but not greasy — a perfect combination. My friend opted for Duck Udon Soup, which contains red chilli and coriander for a cockles-warming effect. He declared it excellent, and said the tender duck was perfectly cooked and plentiful. We felt rather full already but a visit to Yo! Sushi isn’t complete without trying their fabulous noodles. Though not quite as thick and plentiful as, say, a Wagamamas portion, the Chicken and Prawn Yakisoba were really flavoursome — tangy and tasty. The Japanese noodles were perfectly cooked and piping hot throughout. To finish, as the evening drew in, we decided to treat ourselves to hot Saki, a fresh fruit salad and Mochi, a type of glutenous rice cake with a sugary twist. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from on Cabot Circus’s bustling Glass Walk but for a convenient post-shopping or pre-cinema bite in the winter months, Yo! Sushi’s Kill Chill is certainly a blockbuster.

Well, as the name suggests, it’s good if you want sushi. The menu’s big enough to keep vegetarians happy and they got a few meat dishes as well as plenty of raw fish. Like off the movies, you have yummy bits of raw fish going round and round, tempting you. I should warn that it’s all too easy to spend too much here — sushi isn’t the most filling of foods and it can all be easy to just keep on picking up plates. And whatever you do, avoid the grey plates. Maybe only come here for take away otherwise it’s all to easy to get carried away. Also, a glass of water is a pound, which is a bit obscene. There green tea is refreshing and comes with free refills though, so get this instead. They do breakfast, which I’m not entirely sure about. Give me porridge over sticky rice any morning. Lunch is what’s best here, both because it probably isn’t filling enough for dinner(for me at least) and isn’t too heavy. A good place to refuel during a shopping trip in Broadmead or go in a lunch break if you’re based in town and want to treat yourself.

The Cabot Circus restaurant is really quite large and was very busy on our visit. Unlike other similar sushi restaurants i have visited the conveyor travelled around the whole restaurant instead of just round a central island. The food was very fresh and tasty, although i didnt see such a large range of dishes on the conveyor as at Yen Sushi but you could order a wide range of hot dishes from the menu. Service was pretty awful, we were sat down and then our server left without asking if we wanted drinks and it took ten minutes to attract them back again. The theatre of the sushi chefs is always entertaining so sit in the middle if you can, this way you are also closer to the food and can grab them before they get to someone else. Mondays are special offer days where all conveyor plates the same price so you can pick up some dishes for a few pounds cheaper.

I doubt this is ‘authentic’ sushi but sushi to appeal to the mass market.(No raw fish in sight!) But a good introduction all the same. My recommendation is to visit the web site, and order fresh from the kitchen as soon as you sit down rather than pick too much off the conveyor belts. TOPTIP they print an ‘eat by’ time on te lids of the dishes, so if freshness is your thing, look out for this time stamp! Also keep an eye on those price colour coded little plates stacking in front on you, before you know it a quick bite has turned into a £25+ bill.

Yes its a chain, but the food is DELICIOUS. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed the endless conveyor belt of goodies being transported around the tables. And a bonus for the bottomless green tea. It even had some seasonal foods– the pumpkin dish was a balanced combo of sweet and savoury yummyness. I drooled just thinking of it. The maki was plentiful but there was a whole host of Japanese dishes for both vegetarians and carnivores alike. Even the desserts were tasty! Which is unlike alot of other sushi restaurants I’ve frequented… Oh, and its very easy to mount up an unwelcome high food bill here because of all the goodies passing you by all the time– the dish is priced according to the bowl colour its served in(check the menu for price details). You have been warned. Its trendy and packed with yuppies, students and scenesters with the odd buisnessman calling in to pick up his order, but hey its a great people watching place which makes me in paradise.

Don’t take a small child to a Yo! Sushi. It’s just too much for them and they can’t cope. The food going past them on a conveyor belt, a water tap at the table, a red button that summons the staff. A recipe for a stressful meal. The food is really nice, but you can’t help but think about the price all the way through your meal, as you try and choose a dish at a time. It’s very easy to run up a large bill.

I can only echo erzibet’s sentiments about Yo! Sushi finally making it’s way down south. The restaurant is a good size, overlooking the Cabot Circus centre from the 3rd floor with a huge glass wall to look through. Neon coloured lights jass up the place too. It’s the standard sushi bar fayre, but staff are wlays willing to make up special requests that aren’t on the conveyor belt — there are menus on hand to give you inspiration. Mineral water costs £1 a head for as much as you want from the taps situated by your seat, and all the condiments such as wasabi and soy sauce are sunk into the bar. A great meal, but take your biggest wallet — you’ll want to try one of everything!

Finally YO! Sushi comes to Bristol and it is well worth the wait! The restaurant is situated in the new Cabot Circus development and is very bright and airy with views across the shopping centre. The staff are busy but still charming and friendly(when we were there our young son managed to knock over not one but three glasses of water and they were unfailingly charming and lovely about it) and the food is fantastic. YO! Sushi utilises a conveyor belt to rotate the sushi dishes around the diners, which makes for a fun and uniquely interactive dining experience as you wait hungrily for your favourite dishes to go past. There isn’t just sushi but also noodle dishes, salads, gorgeous deep fried pumpkin dishes and even delicious puddings all beautifully decorated with fruit. The system involves the dishes being colour coded according to price so you select your food from the conveyor belt, eat up while enthusing wildly then stack the empty dishes at your elbow. When it is time to leave the waiting staff count the dishes and calculate your bill accordingly. Simple! It can work out quite expensive if you really love your sushi and get carried away but generally it works out at about £15-£20 a head. It is more of a day time lunch restaurant.
