So first off it’s always empty whatever time you go. Apart from the occasional person coming to collect a take away you can expect around 3 other parties to be sitting in the restaurant. «We’re in the South of England, stop being such a prune. Perhaps foreign food(don’t really like that term but going to use it anyway) isn’t that popular here». There are a lot of other restaurants within a 20 minute drive which do «foreign food» to a good standard where you have to book in advance if you want to eat there. «Just because it’s empty doesn’t mean it’s not a hidden gem» Correct and even though people’s reviews of the restaurant 3 years ago also said it was empty I’ll just get to the food bit of the review. It’s really mixed, some things were decent and some things were just horrible. We got served some frozen pork dumplings(trust me it gets worse) and they weren’t even cooked properly with the(I’m going to call it pastry) having the texture of plastic. The filling was completely average, normally with dumplings you have another associated flavour, like pork and ginger. This, however, was just pork and tasted extremely bland. Not to worry because I was sure they would have some amazing dipping sauce which is common alongside dumplings nowadays. They served the dumplings with a sweet chilli sauce. I don’t need to say anymore. Oh wait, I need to say he charged over a fiver for 3 – 4 dumplings. The service was good, a 7⁄10. But we were like the only one’s there so take that with a pinch of salt. Décor is average, again I’m not an expert on this stuff but it’s definitely nothing to cry home about. Had the owners iPad playing«club» tunes at one stage, that was an interesting experience. It’s just so below average, I know we all crave a Chinese now and then but this is a miss even if you really feel like one.

I have never eaten in, only got takeout, twice, and i have to say the food is not good at all. There are many cheaper, dirtier places with far better food. The sweet and sour chicken had tinned peaches in it, maybe thats normal? Maybe that is some old fashioned recipes past down from generations of wise old chinese men, but i didn’t enjoy it. The prawn toast tasted vile, i know its never going to be a low fat dish, but here were just huge chunks of fat in it and to be honest it tasted more like cheese on toast as oppose to prawn toast. Chow mein stodgey and disapointing. One of the worst chinese takeaways i have ever had… will be travelling a little further and going to the one in Mere in future.

WE have been here quite a few times. The staff are always pleasant and the food good. We went on Christmas Eve and had a splendid time.

I’d like to give this place 5 stars, but I’m never overwhelmed with how great it is. The food is always good, no doubt, and the service is good. We’ve been here probably 8 times, and I can’t think of a dish that we just didn’t likebut there always seems to be something missing — maybe atmosphere. There is never, ever, anyone else in this place. Out of all the times we’ve been here, we’re the only table, or just one of maybe two or three — maybe we go at odd times? And, I think its a little on the pricey side — allow for 10 pounds per dinner, plus drink — add an appetizer or two, and if the kids want dessert, the bill ends up making me a little resentful, like we should’ve had a better time for the money spent. Parking can be a little difficult. The lot behind the place, if you can find it, is very small and steep. I can’t maneuver around there very easily in my vehicle, so we always try to park on the high street and walk down to the restaurant, looking forward to our favorite dishes, knowing that its going to be pricey and a little awkward.
