Six of us stopped in here for lunch after visiting Highclere castle and had a delicious lunch. I had the cauliflower soup and a beer root and goat cheese salad. Both were excellent. The bread was warm and crunchy-straight from the oven. White wine was cold and delicious and the other ladies had fish and chips an the pork chop which they loved. We agreed the chips were amongst the best we have had in England! It might have something to do with the fact that they are triple fried-yikes. The atmosphere is really great with chocolate brown walls and a fabulous art collection. Some taxidermy throughout which is interesting. Even though we were there on a beautiful sunny day and there is plenty of outdoor seating, we opted for a table inside to enjoy the lovely setting.
