The Butcher The Baker & The Ice Cream Maker

Very disapointing, a while ago they put the wrong label on something i brought from the meat counter — noticed when i got home this was costly! (brought sausages — paid for fillet steak good mark up there)
3 weekends ago (December 2010) we turned up for ham on a sunday afternoon, about 30 minutes befoe closing and a young lady said that she had already cleaned the slicing machine! Hence we had cheese for the following days sandwiches.
The lady who serves behind the till (short fair hair) is always extremely rude when serving you and is not suited to a job in retail.
Today (29 December 2010) we turned up at 9.15 hoping that the shop would be open. The staff acknowledge myself, but refused to serve me because as the shop did not open till 10! We will have to go to «Colliers Butchers» in Swadlincote in the future as you always get excellent service with a smile.

As the name suggests a shop with three parts, with by far the most impressive being the butcher. A fabulous range of steaks, Beef Wellington, racks of lamb, home made sausages, to name but a few. All well presented and displayed to tempt you in to making a purchase. The staff seemed knowledgeable and helpful too.
The ice cream section had a good range of flavours, but was a little small in comparison, to achieve co-​billing with the butchers. Similarly the bakery products seemed a little limited, but the rolls and loaves present did look impressive. The rest of the establishment is an eclectic mix of groceries for the moored marina boats, and a range of relishes, sauces and marinades to go with the great selection of meat. There was also a good range of home grown fruit and vegetables, bigger than either the ice cream or bakery section! High ceilings, rustic beams and fittings add to the ambiance of a shop that cannot seem to make up its mind what it wants to be.

Great meat, but an odd set up, a butcher who sells anything from cocopops to womans weekly! Would have given more stars but the rude staff left a bitter taste!

a fantastic addition to barton under needwood! the staff are all very helpful and polite! the produce is all very local and of the highest quality! whenever i am down at the marina i always pop in! and they always remember you!

What a find, its brilliant. The meat is so tasty and not expensive at all. The pastry things are great. The staff are really friendly and helpful. When you have done your shopping you can have one of there lovely ice creams and go for a walk in the gorgeous surroundings

I think this is a superb little place, situated in a nice setting, selling tasty and tender meats, (unlike the rubbish supplied by the supermarkets), bread and ice cream, all produced locally. It does as it says on the tin, sells meat, bread (and cakes) and ice cream.
Apart from the quality of their produce, another thing that really impresses me is that you never have to queue for long to get served, and the staff are friendly and helpful. They often seem to remember you and what you had during you last visit, which to me is like a personal service.
