Went here for a late lunch, early dinner. I ordered the french onion soup as an appetizer, it was alright. The last french onion soup I had was in Disneyland and it was the best french onion soup I’ve had yet, pretty tough to top. I had the lemon sole for my entrée, the fish was tender and the sauce was light and complimented it perfectly. Dessert was a simple crème brûlée that was eaten within five minutes. The portion sizes were good and I wouldn’t mind going back again.

Yes, it is a franchise, and yes, all Café Rouges have the same food, but the ambience and the service is great at the Bury St Edmunds café. Our book club used to meet there. We had a meal every quarter but mostly we just had drinks and yet they could not have been more helpful with arranging a room and seeing to it that our drinks were served well. Try their lunchtime specials(which are served until late evening, unlike most other chains where the special ends at around 3 pm) which are great value for money. I’d have given them 5*s but I once had a really bad experience around the time of the Christmas rush, so I had to give 4. Definitely a place to go eat.

Really nice restaurant/Café with lots of art work to look at on the walls! Great food/drink at a reasonable price in lovely surroundings. I can recommend the crème brûlée and huge side orders of olives.

Lovely restaurant in what looks to be an old Bank in the centre of Bury St Edmunds. The best bit about this place is that it takes Tesco deals and so you can have a fantastic meal at a fraction of the normal price. It is something well worth looking into and with the credit crunch can really help.
